Copyright laws are stupid. Copyright should expire the same way patents expire, after 10 years.

I imagine communism as a system where we have a central free open knowledge base. Everything, every idea is there, so if you add yours it is you who added it and nobody can say they were it
I imagine it as a mix of git and science papers, I imagine a reputation based system of trust, changes are logged and there is always a documentation on what was changed and why
On the same system, you could as well do voting and stuff
The clue to this setup is, that there is no entity controlling it, but all of that is built upon “smart-contracts” stored (or at least the hashes of the changes) on a ledger, every person alive has their unique wallet/ID (like a birth certificate), so you can setup voting without an entity that is able to abuse it’s power

And to the argument that nobody would work, if they could not earn more than others doing nothing: no human ever does nothing, we are bored of nothing, we would get creative and innovative (as you see with FOSS stuff for example)
It would be a beautiful world where people would take time to create unbelievable art and others would invent mind blowing tech just for good representation and cheering of the community

Communism means a moneyless society. There is no "earning for your labor" anymore and in turn no real loss for the artist that prevents them from having access to basic necessities, nor any real incentive for others to illegally copy someone's work in the first place. So no, communism doesn't really need any kind of copyright. Making it mandatory to credit the original artist could be mandatory, but that's about it.
Though I do agree with your second paragraph for the time being, where money earned through labor is required to survive.

Ideas are not products of individuals, but of societies. Artists and intellectuals need copyright nowdays because those jobs usually lead you to starvation under capitalism (no, i dont consider academics as a good example of intellectuals). And history is full of irony, because it will probably be capitalism that will take copyright down because its an obstacle to developing AI

There is copyright for everything and artists still struggle today. Copyright is just another tool to make companies OWN their workers work.
Abolish copyright and see artists flourish. See your local artist create custom art for your favourite movie without getting crushed if they get famous. See movies getting made by truly creative minds funded by YOU and not studios that want to sell toys and phones. Have they lost the ability to become billionaires from a hit? Should we feel sorry for that? NO ONE should own so much.
I know, it's hard to bring nuance to this. The current copyright system is completely fucked. I think we still need some sort of copyright, but one that expires after like 10 years after first publication. I would actually be fine with everything being used to train AI models, if AI wouldn't require ungodly amounts of resources and the companies wouldn't be owned by tech bro assholes. If it would belong to us all, be free to use and not burn down our world even quicker, AI would be fine.

I used Manta with the android app and deleted my account, hoping to make a new account not connected to Google and pay that way. But I couldn't log in with anything other than Google, Apple or Facebook. Figured it was an app thing and opened Manta in a browser. However the same thing showed up when I wanted to sign up. So if you ever find a way, let me know.
I've never heard of the site until now. But indeed, there is no such "Register new account" page, it all goes to the stupid "Sign in with the Big 3" modal. What a fucking joke.
It doesn't help that I learned this site operates on a "gem" economy, and I just do not fucking understand why commercial manga sites do this. Steam charges you cash for games, Amazon and Netflix charge cash for movies and series, even the Google Play Store just uses USD (or whatever local currency). Why do manga sites operate like a fucking pachinko parlor?
Yeah, it didn't do that years ago. You do get some series, if you just sign up for the base subscription. I don't know if these are made with the site and the rest are licensed, which is why you need to pay extra to read them?
But the enshittification is real. People lose the sense of how mu h money they spend, when you have to buy tokens to pay. And you can never buy the correct amount, so you end up having to pay more for enough tokens to get what you want.
It's shit and I just took this as a sign, to not participate anymore. I won't be sailing the seas, but I absolutely get the people who do.
