It's heartbreaking to hear about this. Sincerely hope that the families have the support they need, and my heart goes out to everyone impacted.
Everything about this is tragic. I really hope the majority discourse around this in Canada can handle it with empathy and not get swept up in US-style culture wars about it.

There's already far too much uninformed speculation (and associated bullshit claims) and claims about the shooter and their gender identity based on the awkward wording in some of the early reporting.
Holy crap. This is shocking.
