The headline isn't that Onion-worthy but the ingress is:

AI said applicant's 'habitual' Chrome use could indicate a 'lack of adaptability' after screening interview

So applicants are being judged by AIs with all the training of a Facebook, "What your browser says about you' quiz?

Applicant: I'll use what browser your security allows me to use.

Me: You're hired.

I'll only use browsers your security won't allow me to use

I agree with the AI that chrome sucks, but if I were hiring for a Google related job and an AI employee listed Chrome use as a con, I'd fire it. Employees need to consider the context of the job they're performing.

"AI Employee" is some seriously dystopian bullshit.

  • Lede: using Chrome could indicate a ‘lack of adaptability’.
  • Article: doing something “mostly out of habit” (applicant's own words) could indicate a ‘lack of adaptability’.

I'm still using Firefox because I never bothered switching to Chrome when that became a thing.

I never switched away from Firefox and was wary of Google even back then
