I'm seeing a lot of commentators arguing that the tail is wagging the dog, downplaying the USA's role in all this. Israel is a creation of the West and this war against Iran is in line with everything the USA has done over the centuries. Let's not act like poor USA is being bullied by Israel.

Secondly, many are blaming Trump. This is classic scapegoating and only serves to distract people from the fact that the ENTIRE US government is corrupt. By pointing the finger at an individual, they are reinforcing the lie that democracy exists in the USA and that people only need to vote the right person in next time.

Also to keep in mind is that Iran and Venezuela are not isolated. They are a coherent plan. Without Venezuelan oil the US couldn't keep the war in Iran for longer due to prices sky-rocketing.

I think it actually might not be that straightforward. Venezuelan production is insufficient to address the impact on the oil trade caused by conflict with Iran.

Instead I think that the US is reliant on the oil from Guyana and Venezuela was displaying willingness and ability to interdict the oil production there, which the strategists probably saw as a risk in the scenario where Iran closed Hormuz.

Indeed, the US only seized the management of Venezuelan oil last month - the country with the largest oil reserves in the world (Iran is third after Saudi Arabia)

Counterpoint: it is now public knowledge that Israeli intelligence has raised up an entire ruling class of pedophiles in the US and knowably have video of Trump fucking a child specifically. Now we certainly bear some responsibility for allowing that to happen for fear of being called an antisemite, but...

Yeah, no. This is something you need to work through. Earnestly. I want you to read American history and understand how the country has never been a democracy.

Realize that the US was an apartheid regime until the 1960s. That's 200 years of racial apartheid. You're gonna call that a democracy?

If you think WW2 was the end of Democracy, and that was literally 20 years before the end of apartheid, your definition of democracy is white supremacist.

If you live in the USA and you haven't studied USA history critically, beyond what you were taught in school, then you really don't understand it at all. I get that Citizens United is a tempting scapegoat, but it was not better before that; all Citizens United did was strip away some of the pretense.
