Wait… they usually use this as a reason to escalate… maybe they are trying to hide it because 80% of Americans on both sides of the aisle are against a war?

Cone of silence, baby.

Solid leadership on the part of our dumbass president.

Casualty numbers are woke virtue signalling—true Christian Armageddon soldiers don’t notice they are wounded, because they are filled with ecstasy at the coming righteous apocalypse!

That was a joke—was trying to make fun of hegseth, he’s been talking in that vein lately, and apparently military have been told across branches that they’re fighting for Jesus and Armageddon, which must be coming directly from him.

USA news is becoming more like Russian news every day.

it's been like this for a long time tbf, US oligarchs cracked down on proper journalism after losing vietnam

[-] TiredTiger@lemmy.ml 6 points 5 days ago

The problems go back further than that, but the centralization of news media over the last 50 years has certainly made it harder for the average Westerner to come across information that disputes the CIA narrative.

Hm. Somewhat reminds me of another aggressor that attacked a country about 4 years ago. They also needed to downplay the costs of war for the domestic audience, bc even a part ofthe russian populus didnt want war back then. Didnt stop their government. Just as it didnt stop The US government right now. The US and russia are somewhat hard to distinguish lately.

[-] orc_princess@lemmy.ml 6 points 5 days ago

The US has acted like this for many decades though

Hey everyone :) I see that I am being downvoted by some. I'm not here to convince anyone of anything, but I'm willing to learn myself. What did I do wrong?

[-] CommanderCloon@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 days ago

Because it's not specific to Russia, and it's not specific to the US either. That's pretty much the reality of any war, at least on the attacker side

[-] stoicEuropean@lemmy.ml 1 points 4 days ago

Yeah, I think you are right. Thank you!
