Grogu is from the Mystery-Yoda-Species so he'll be a literal child for the first 50 or 100 years or whatever of his life

Disney wants to keep their popular IPs alive and profitable as long as possible, far beyond their reasonable lifespan, so that type of character is irresistible to them. The audience isn't forced to confront any uncomfortable ideas from that character's growth and maturity. HEY look at the CUTE BABY wheeeeeee! He'll NEVER AGE, like a CARTOON CHARACTER!! That kind of immutability is what porky wants more than anything else

Anyways feel free to shit on star wars as much as you need below chickpea but pls watch Andor very-smart

I have an incredible soft spot for star wars, especially the real dire legends slop like Star Wars: X-Wing and Timothy Zahn's Thrawn trilogy. Pump that shit directly into my veins.

same tbh

i was too young to play TIE-Fighter when it came out, but all the Jedi Knight games and Kotors and Empire at War and ughhhh what happened to good Star Wars games, goddamn catgirl-cry

I can't believe how far star wars games have fallen, when the IP was acquired by Disney I knew it was inevitable. There will never be a Jedi Knight game where you can force choke stormtroopers and decapitate them with a light saber throw at the same time again.

There has been a community remaster of Tie-Fighter if you've been meaning to check it out. Now might be the best time to play it

[-] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 7 points 1 month ago

Get yourself a cheap flight joystick and play TIE Fighter! It's gooooood

Agreed, and That makes werner herzogs appearance funny. He hates Hollywood slop and has never watched a star wars movie. But he also cried when he saw the baby yoda puppet for the firat time. It shows how theres multiple levels to this science/art of hollywood merchandizing. Ot's slop, but theres also a certain power that can even move germans

Yeah it's exactly why boomers love minions

Every time I see Baby Yoda, I get GT flashbacks.

[-] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 9 points 1 month ago

It is not baby yoda though? It's just another of their species right?

[-] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

I'm going to minecraft David Filoni if Grogu ends up being something stupid like a clone or reincarnation of Yoda or Yaddle.

[-] WittyProfileName2@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

Yoda and Yaddle's misplaced child, thrust ahead in the timeline when they misplaced Grogu in the World Between Worlds during some jedi archeology expedition to the ruins of Lothal's old jedi temple.

[-] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

The Mortis family shows up in the live action Filoniverse and recognizes Grogu.

[-] 9to5@hexbear.net 6 points 1 month ago

I love Grogu. And I wont excuse myself for loving that lil fuck

Star Wars has always been dogshit slop for showerphobic manchildren.

It's impossible to watch a single movie without feeling like I'm being marketed to.

They all feel like overly long toy commercials, and that marketing-spirit carries over to everything else in the movie, like infantile binary morality, shallow writing that can only justify itself through magic, so you never have to question anything, characters that look like racial stereotypes, a la Harry Potter and and tons and tons of characters that only exist to make toys of and market to children.

Fuck star wars.

[-] Bishop_Owl@hexbear.net 9 points 1 month ago

They ARE precisely overly long toy commercials because Lucas made a deal where he took a huge pay cut while directing, in exchange for ownership of the merchandising rights.

[-] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 7 points 1 month ago

The two slop mega franchises I enjoy, Star Wars and Gundam, are both expensive toy commercials that have stuck around since the late 70s.

With Gundam, at least the original creator fucking hated the toys and only complied to pay the bills (and also tried to intentionally financially destroy the franchise lmao).

[-] Bishop_Owl@hexbear.net 6 points 1 month ago

The biggest way capitalism has me owned is with gunpla honestly, I can't help it, I love having polystyrene and ABS swimming around in my cerebrospinal fluid.

[-] KhanCipher@hexbear.net 1 points 1 month ago

And the funny thing about that deal from what I remember is that Fox at the time couldn't say no to George because they were in a bad financial situation that made it so they needed him a lot more than he needed them.

I'm sorry but him choosing the mandalorian chainmail over the lightsaber to be with Din will always pull at my heart strings. And that first episode slapped really hard.

Edit: the rest was mad garbage tho holy shit.
