As much as climate change is an existential threat to the continuation of civilized life on this planet, Trump has somehow managed to become an even more immediate existential threat to the continuation of civilized life on this planet, so unfortunately I guess that leaves us in a position where we've got to pick our battles for now. Sucks, though.

I, for one, don't see it as a mutually exclusive choice: why can't we do both? There's an immediate threat and a looming one, it's not one or the other here. I can accept that we have to pump out more fossil fuel in the short term given our circumstances, but little is being done to move the needle on the general dependence of fossil fuels.
