Permaculture is a great alternative to unsustainable conventional ag practices. There are real benefits in terms of soil and water management and diversity and pest control. It hopes to address the shortcomings of conventional ag with soil degradation, nutrient management, water management and biodiversity.

There are flavours and variations of permaculture that are getting academically rigorous study including silvopasture, groundswales, companion planting (three sisters) etc...

Discounting permaculture because of the their cookes is like discounting medicine because of their cookes. Yes the PDC is a bit MLMy, just like Passive House certifications and courses, but there are legitimate benefits to the practices.

It was taught in my University's Environmental Science program. All the ag focused universities do research on various aspects of it, in particular as a response to climate risks.

But think of the alpine banana farming opportunities!

Experts are divided between those who think we never should have left the trees, and those who think we never should have left the oceans.

As an armchair scientist myself, I think we screwed up leaving the singularity of the big bang. Inflation and baryogenesis were a mistake.

Worst restaurant ever. The service was terrible, the menus disgusting and the food was awful.

Science is fine. How it is published and funded is deeply flawed.

Canadian Made, by Colt Canada a US subsidiary. :(

I hope that one day Canada will learn the lesson of dual purpose industry. Have Canadian owned and made small arms on principle of sovereignty and defence.

When military production is not required due to peacetime, convert production to civilian models. This can scale up and down a few production lines as needed. Ammunition is included here too. The civilian operations subsidize the cost of maintaining a permanent defense industrial footprint.

Use that civilian infrastructure as a recruiting tool for the military as sports shooters may be more inclined. You also generate a population base of trained marksmen to draw upon should conflict arise. The swiss model can be drawn upon for inspiration.

Canada's liberals have been on a gun hunt since forever. They say they will cut the civil service to save money while expanding on past obscene expenditures for gun grabs. They wage war on civilian firearms industry, and the sports shooting community while also claiming to support domestic industry, especially defense, is such a raging case of suck and blow at the same time their heads are going to implode.

Canada is officially designating certain critical minerals as a national security priority under the Defence Production Act, a move that would allow the federal government to support the mining industry by guaranteeing it a buyer and a minimum price.

The move was announced at a G7 energy and environment meeting in Toronto on Friday, where countries discussed countering China’s overwhelming dominance of critical mineral production. Those minerals are essential for modern technologies like electric vehicles and clean energy, and Western nations have been growing increasingly anxious over China’s control of their supply chain.

I made fried rice a few days ago. It was good. I had leftovers the next day and it was better. I had leftover again a day after and it was even better (spices and flavours developed and it became more savoury). Presumably this will continue until it spoils, hence the title.

Confession. I thought of this while in the bath, not the shower.
