Economy's gotten so bad that the soldiers are forced to bring their own drugs these days instead of being handed them in ration packs.

[-] blimthepixie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 1 month ago

Out of the 175 sailors who tested positive in the random testing, 52 of them were serving on as submarine at the time.

Not quite what the headline states

Nor are ecstasy and cannabis hard drugs

It's cos MDMA is class A so that's a hard drug in their sensational-eyes

Submarine crews rotate between active duty on the vessels (in port or at sea) and active shore duty. The testing showed 175 submariners positive, of which 52 were on board at the time of testing. It’s a bit rich to make the distinction as they’re still on duty, and are we really saying the cokeheads go cold turkey when they leave port? Even if they do that’s a massive issue in its own right.

It was only rum, sodomy, and the lash once.

lol, cannabis is a hard drug. Compared to caffeine, maybe.

[-] FatVegan@leminal.space 5 points 1 month ago

Even then, nothing really happens when you smoke weed all day long. Caffeine on the other hand...

Relax! It's recreational pharmaceuticles on a nuclear powered, nuclear armed strategic submarine. What's the worst that can happen?

[-] Agent641@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I can't imagine doing coke on a submarine is a fun time

[-] huf@hexbear.net 3 points 1 month ago

smoking on a submarine is definitely an interesting idea
