Can somebody remind me why I might have downloaded this? I'm sure it must have been pitched to me somewhat effectively already but I really can't remember what made me get it or why I never got around to playing it.

Edit: okay turns out this is the remake that just came out. I'm guessing I acquired this after having watched Ben Croshaw's review of the old one. Or seeing that it was being remade and remebering the old one being something he spoke well of

Same, fun but crashed a lot.

If you used to watch Zero Punctuation around 2011 then it might be because Yahtzee called it the best FPS game ever made.

Played it myself and can't say I agree, but I can kinda see what he saw in it

yeah that has to be in. he's the only person in my media sphere i've seen mention it so far

Played through the game after his video-- no regrets

Oddly, I had a similar experience with the game. It just sort of ended up in the collection of “backed up” games in my library. Can’t remember who recommended it. Maybe it’s cursed? If it is a cursed game, they at least made it fun. It’s a pretty fast-paced shooter with lots of unique enemies and pretty backdrops.

Edit: I misread this and thought you were talking about the original series that ended around 2012. I looked at the new one and it looks like it lost a lot of what made the original good. I recommend checking out the older ones.

oh hell yeah. going with this theory, it's like a copypasta.

you have a stake shooter and can pin enemies to the walls and ceiling, it has some nice gory weapons.

I finished it more than once I think, but last time I tried it I felt like it hadn't aged well and dropped it.

They made a remake but it was not good and had some dumb issues like forced bots companions in single player if I'm not wrong

[-] sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz 2 points 4 weeks ago

ohh damn yeah this is definitely the remake i've got. i was thinking this would be better without the bots

It was recently given away. I prowl the free games communities but often don't play myself, just collect.

Edit: actually bought this years and years and years ago when it came out. They tried to do Quake but then put it on methamphetamine, stir in huge wave battles reminiscent of OG Serious Sam. It's mostly a 6/10 game but I also don't regret buying it and it was fun to play.

Painkiller is from 2004, excellent shooter with some unique weapons, mechanics and set pieces.

You were right. It's the reboot.

[-] Hadriscus@jlai.lu 1 points 4 weeks ago

aha ! alright I don't know this one

[-] sad_detective_man@sopuli.xyz 2 points 4 weeks ago

are you for real? sure its corny but this looks really good for a 2004 game. why does it feel like Doom and Left 4 Dead had a baby?

It got a patch and a little TLC last year iirc little bit of a glow up and fixed some bugs. Then went on sale/free all over the place. They made the mode where you can play as Duke Nukem work better too.

/Edit I'm thinking bullet storm I just got up, ssshhhhh
