Not surprising at all. Having nukes makes countries think twice before striking and recent events have made it very clear what can happen if you don't have them.

This is very dangerous. Iran sprinting for the bomb is one of the few things that might actually result in Tehran getting nuked. If they want to go for it, they could do so in a way that would be almost impossible to stop via air attack (distributing the effort widely. Think individual centrifuges literally set up in residential basements or garages.) And neither Israel or the US have the means to occupy Iran and directly topple their government via ground troops. If Iran dashes for the bomb, the only way Israel can stop them is by dropping city busters on Iran's major population centers. And even that might not do it. If Israel really is that serious about preventing Iran from getting the bomb, this is incredibly dangerous.

Israel would love for Iran to have nuclear capabilities, because as you said, that would give them an excuse to strike Iran even harder.
