You know, we’re not calling for regime change

Quote from the detainee.

My guy why the fuck aren't you calling for a regime change in the US. Trump and his cronies are christo fascists. everyone should be calling for a regime change.

I'm not from america. Nor want to be. Nor want to ever visit there. And other than my certain fuel costs going up by 30% I'm not directly troubled, yet I'm still calling for a regime change. Mainly due to the orange buffoon being a child rapist.

Edit: obviously the blatant corruption and that disgusting things many other faults and personality traits also play a role in why I would like a regime change. But the obvious paedo stuff is at the forefront.

I have similiar opinion to him lol.

I don't live in the USA, I am not citizen of USA, my parentage does not link me with USA. Thus, I have no right to get involved in USA politics.

Does not stop me from wishing on personal level that Trump & Co would find a rapid increase in lead levels in their organisms, but that's due to pedo stuff and the amount of suffering he puts ya all through.

Thus, I have no right to get involved in USA politics.

When their politics have a direct negative impact on my country, that gives me the right to comment on their politics.

[-] Demdaru@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Comment, yeah. Call for a regime change? Way out of my scope. In the end it's americans who decide who leads them, all I am entitled to is putting expectations towards my own country and how it will deal with whatever the consequence of their decisions.

In the end it's americans who decide who leads them

And when those decisions are actively harmful to both them and me, I am absolutely justified in criticizing those bad choices.

Why the fuck would you cross a border into a neofascist country (of which you are not a citizen) with the express intent of protesting the regime, and provide that as the reason for the trip, and then be surprised by this treatment?

[-] pathwonder@kopitalk.net 40 points 2 weeks ago

He tried to go over with hope.

Bless this bastard, at least he confirmed the worst we all thought.

A lot of people just fundamentally don't know what a protest is or what it's supposed to accomplish and it really shows...

Like, this was his protest, and it got articles written in Canada about how it's unsafe for Canadians to travel South.

[-] CompactFlax@discuss.tchncs.de -3 points 2 weeks ago

and then be surprised

[-] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 weeks ago

Because Americans were allowed to cross the border and join the Ottawa convoy and attempts at sedition at other border points? The 911 system in Ottawa was collapsed by US callers.

THIS! This is why I am not going to the US.

They already have my fingerprints (as does the RCMP) when I entered the US prior to becoming a Canadian citizen. After becoming one the process was so streamlined and quick it was a non issue.

But I will not subject myself to this kind of indignity.

If you are wondering why the RCMP has my fingerprints, it is because part of the process of obtaining a permanent residency you need to submit your fingerprints. All immigrants going through that process have to.

No DNA or facial information is required, at least not when I did it.

[-] Paranoidfactoid@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

Can confirm. I went through the same process and have no desire to return to the US under the current administration.

have no desire to return to the US under the current administration.

This administration nor any following one until they repair the damage and fix the faults in the systems that allowed someone like Trump to get elected twice.

[-] kent_eh@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 weeks ago

THIS! This is why I am not going to the US.

This is one of the very many reasons why I am not going to the USA.

[-] ZiggyTheZygote@lemmy.ca 25 points 2 weeks ago

Totally normal and routine procedures by a totalitarian government. I will never go because if they check my phone, ohhhhh boy, I'd be shot on the spot.

https://travel.gc.ca/destinations/united-states

Why is the government saying there is no risk, while the news says otherwise?

[-] ieGod@lemmy.zip 10 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Cut to the chase, what’s the main reason I’m not being allowed admission?’ And he said, ‘It was the purpose of your visit, sir.’ So, they somehow saw a Canadian with his flag as a threat to their country. And I don’t get it. I absolutely don’t get it,” said Larson.

This guy just isn't that sharp.

[-] Bazell@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Trump politics about departing people work so great that there are now more people who are leaving the country than there are incomes. So, please, do try to change this ration, unless you have like a a health threatening reason to visit the USA. Just don't.
