Accidental for the cops. The photographer and Lady Liberty there knew exactly what photo they were going for, and the cops predictably gave it to them.

The Asian cop looks amused. Would I be fooling myself to imagine him thinking "I have to do this so I don't get fired, but man this is going to be such a historic photo!"

LAPD are notorious shitbags so probably not.

[-] fizzle@quokk.au 13 points 4 weeks ago

I think the cops knew exactly what was going on.

I see what you did there

Is it me or are most US cops switching from handcuffs to "zipties" now? Did they run out?

What the hell is going on over there lol

[-] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 9 points 3 weeks ago

When they want to arrest too many people they use zip ties. They still use cuffs and generally overtighten them as a form of punishment when individuals are being arrested.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plastic_handcuffs

Cheap and light, and apparently around since 1965.

The US summarised perfectly.

She's not being roughed up enough to be 100% correct.

[-] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 31 points 3 weeks ago

That's just because she's white under the green makeup.

[-] IpsumLauren@lemmy.world 77 points 4 weeks ago

Why is she being handcuffed?

[-] chunes@lemmy.world 115 points 4 weeks ago

It's the LAPD. I'm not sure even they know the reason.

[-] anotherspinelessdem@lemmy.ml 31 points 4 weeks ago

They cast the bones and the bones told them to. Don't argue with them.

American laws are very serious.

[-] RaoulDuke85@piefed.social 80 points 4 weeks ago

She's colored.

[-] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

She's foreign, obviously.

The lady showed up to the No Kings protest prepared to be arrested and dressed for the part, and the photographer was looking for a great shot to match it. The cops, being complete idiots, decided that they would handcuff lady liberty, never considering the context of the situation or that they are, in fact, the bad guys of the photo.

[-] starlinguk@lemmy.world 16 points 4 weeks ago

Or they knew exactly what they were doing. There are plenty of cops who just had a choice between cop or army.

Have you applied to Mickey D's in the LA area? Not exactly a living wage.

[-] 1dalm@lemmy.today 5 points 3 weeks ago

Do you know what she was arrested for?

Protesting on the wrong place, I imagine?

Accidental Renaissance

AccidentalRenaissance is for photos that look like Renaissance paintings.

This means that they look like Renaissance art in their composition, their coloring, their saturation, the angle of the scene, the types of settings, etc.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Must be a photo. Not a meme, drawing, art, ai-generated or ai-enhanced image, screenshot, low-effort post, meta posts, video, or anything else but a photo.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Must be SFW. No gore, porn, extreme violence, blood, corpses, or similarly disturbing content. Absolutely no pornography, even if it's "tasteful".

๐Ÿ‘‰ Comments must be civil. No slurs of any kind or using words to insult, demean, harass, or abuse other individuals or groups.

๐Ÿ‘‰ The Renaissance part (not the photo itself) must be accidental to the photograph. In other words, no photos of Renaissance fairs, people dressed in medieval/Renaissance clothes, etc.

๐Ÿ‘‰ NO influencer selfies, professional photoshoots with watermarks, any type of OnlyFans-like content. We are not the place to work your side-hustle.

๐Ÿ“ธ If you know who the photographer is, give them credit in the comment section. This is the only type of self-promotion we allow.

๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿฆฏ Alt-Text for vision-impaired users in the post body or in the comments is highly encouraged. Just pretend you are describing a photo to someone on the phone.
