Only because they lowered the threshold.
People used to be executed for being a traitor. Probably should bring that back.
Well if Quebec gets to inch closer to separation every year, why not the other provinces too?
I think the execution requirement should apply to them, too. Regardless, just because they want to separate doesn't mean they can take the land with them. And they will have to take on their percentage of the national debt, of course.
I have very select words for Quebec too. And none of them are fucking French.
Tabernac!
Here in Red Deer I never saw a single person signing the petition (I regularly drive past like 6 signing locations).
I was expecting them to miss the threshold and then the government say something like "oh there was enough to show that people are interested".
I'm really torn between this being kind of fishy and unsurprising. Either way, I fully expect the referendum to fail.
Yeah in Calgary I don't think I've seen a single person at a signing table. They have a bunch of flags and crap out too really trying to entice people but it's always empty. I also feel like they've been out for weeks if not months at this point?
Maybe some of the more rural areas had more people signing
I came across a "Passport to Alberta" that was issued back in the 80s. Of course, it's a novelty passport; however, it does show, like Quebec, the ongoing discontent in the provinces. And, I must say, it's always brought on by the politicians for some reason. They are the root cause of disillusionment.
NEP is the last time Alberta had a hissy fit at the feds.
