Are we surprised? You've all seen the list of members of 'Labour Friends of Israel', right? The entire political system is infested.

[-] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 31 points 1 day ago

Glad our taxes are not being wasted on anything useless like hospital beds or community centres.

[-] Asidonhopo@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Baalbek? That's an important archaeological site, horrible to think of the destruction of the world's history for this bullshit war, in a way that will match or exceed the Iraq war. US troops set up on the ruins of a temple complex in Baghdad and immediately started shoveling sand into bags to make fortifications. Truly a disgusting loss to our shared humanity.

If people liked ISIS bombing ancient heritage monuments then they're gonna love Israel

Not sure how many people like ISIS but let's hope for Israel it's a lot.

[-] ggtdbz@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 day ago

Baalbak is a city with a lot of targets during any period of bombing. Mercifully the temple complex site has never been hit and it hopefully stays that way.

They’re not above it though. They hit the archeological site in Sour/Tyre in the 2024 airstrikes though, and even though dozens of people and medics were murdered by then, my blood boiled white hot after that, I was angrier about it than the mass murder. I think the precision strikes on ambulances came after and those pissed me off even more though.

It’s never a good sign when you have an internal conflict about whether you’re a good person or not because you’re more mad about a bunch of old rocks getting pulverized than people like you being murdered.

They’ll fucking do it, they don’t care. They don’t think we’re people, they obviously don’t think our heritage matters, especially not in a poor city they routinely terrorize.

Expected Britain was an active partner in the Gaza genocide this is just a continuation.

[-] blackn1ght@feddit.uk 4 points 1 day ago

Israel would use their own drones. Why use the RAF? Seems more likely it's the UK gathering intel on what Israel is doing.

[-] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 day ago

RAF bases in the UK are used to load up US B2 bombers which bomb Iran. The UK is lockstep with Israel.

Why wouldn't Israel have a free spy plane fly for them?

[-] blackn1ght@feddit.uk -2 points 23 hours ago

Why wouldn’t Israel have a free spy plane fly for them?

I'm sure Israel can spare a single drone to fly over Lebanon, they don't need to use anyone else to do that for them.

[-] spagbolioli@feddit.uk 12 points 1 day ago

israel and the uk are the same side

they wouldn't be flying over gaza/lebanon without coordination with israel, so it's obvious reconnaissance for israel/nato

[-] blackn1ght@feddit.uk 7 points 1 day ago

The UK has been criticising Israel for attacking Lebanon though.

Like I said, if Israel wanted recon they can just use their own drones. Seems like people are jumping to the conclusion that we're gathering intel for Israel rather than collecting our own Intel to get an idea of what's going on.

[-] mrdown@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Critisizing israel but still sell wespons, share intel and impose no sanctions on the state of israel itself. That's called hypocrisy

[-] Doomsider@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

They literally arrest you for supporting Palestine in the UK.

[-] stsquad@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 day ago

They'll arrest you for supporting Palestine Action which has been designated a terrorist group by the government. You wouldn't be arrested for peacefully protesting and supporting the Palistinian cause.

[-] Doomsider@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Why was it designated a terrorist group. Who have they killed and what crimes against civilians have they committed?

I am being rhetorical of course and besides it has already been determined unlawful.

It is clear they attempted to illegally suppress human rights in support of Isreal.

[-] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 1 points 1 day ago

JTAC based their assessment largely on the Filton incident where a police officer suffered possibly life-changing injuries after a PA member attacked them repeatedly with a sledgehammer.

The underlying basis was the definition used in the Terrorism Act, of a group that commits serious damage to property in order to influence government policy. The UK is one of the few places to have such a broad definition.

[-] Doomsider@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Oh gosh one person severely injured, that is horrible. I am truly sorry for their suffering as no one deserves treatment like that.

On the other hand there have been a verifiable 172,000 Palestinian injuries with over 72,000 estimated deaths.

The government knew full well what they were doing and anyone defending it should be ashamed to defend this abuse of human rights. There is no doubt in my mind about this because it is a verifiable pattern.

Just like UKs support of Israel.

[-] blackn1ght@feddit.uk -1 points 23 hours ago

That and breaking into a military base and damaing hardware.

[-] mrdown@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago

A military base involved in support genocide thr ultimate form of terrorism

[-] ohulancutash@feddit.uk -2 points 17 hours ago

As they falsely claimed. The planes they damaged had nothing at all to do with israel.

[-] mrdown@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago

Raf bases use elbit system tech so israeli tech

[-] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 1 points 17 hours ago

That incident doesn’t seem to be in the JTAC assessment.

[-] Samskara@sh.itjust.works -3 points 22 hours ago

Palestine Action beat a police officer on their back with a sledge hammer, fracturing their back. It was pure luck this wasn’t deadly.

[-] mrdown@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago

Still spreading propaganda zionazi?

[-] stsquad@lemmy.ml -2 points 1 day ago

I'm not arguing about the designation, that's up to the government. However the people that been arrested for holding up the signs knew exactly what they where doing and had been warned before their arrests. They were protesting the proscription of Palistine Action rather than generally supporting Palistine.

We will find out how it all plays out once the appeals process is completed.

[-] Doomsider@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Yeah I am not sure that is accurate to say people were only protesting the act of it being banned. I am sure the majority also supports ending the genocide that the UK refuses to designate as such.

When you can excuse human rights abuses it is all pretty much moot anyways.

[-] stsquad@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago

I didn't say that they were only protesting the ban. That is what they were arrested for through.

[-] Doomsider@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Oh, I thought you were implying that. Sorry for misinterpreting it.

[-] mrdown@lemmy.world 0 points 20 hours ago

Iranians who protested the regime knew what would happen to them with your dumb logic I get it was fine what the Iranisn regime did

[-] mrdown@lemmy.world 0 points 20 hours ago

Designed as a terrorist orgsnization because it support palestine and oppose settler colonialism

[-] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 2 points 1 day ago

You may need a refresher course on use of “literally”.

[-] Doomsider@lemmy.world -1 points 1 day ago

Thanks grammar Nazi!

[-] ddplf@szmer.info -3 points 1 day ago

Matt Kennard is a tankie and so is OP, go back to your grad

[-] mrdown@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Snd you seem to be a zionazi

[-] ddplf@szmer.info -4 points 1 day ago

Ouch, that stings - being called a nazi by a tankie just hits so different man

[-] mrdown@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago

I am not a tankie zionazi. I don't support the russian invasion of Ukraine

[-] ddplf@szmer.info -3 points 1 day ago

Then why get triggered for calling out a tankie?

[-] mrdown@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I am triggered that you have a problem with a tweet showing the uk complicity with israeli settler colonialism and genocide, not that you called me a tankie

[-] ddplf@szmer.info -3 points 1 day ago

Do you have any proof of that complicity or do you consider this tweet by a well established russo-apologist good enough?

Okay okay, look I'm sorry, I shouldn't have validated this information, please stop downvoting me, champion.

[-] mrdown@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)
[-] ddplf@szmer.info -3 points 20 hours ago

Of course not, those are very valuable resources and I do appreciate them - kudos to you, not kidding

That being said - my point stands that this particular tweet from Matt Kennard was pure speculation, as he did not provide any of these sourced. And that he is, in general, a russian propagandist in denial.

[-] mrdown@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago

uk share inteligence with a genocidal state and sell them weapons it is a fact whatever a russian propagandist or the devil says it

[-] ddplf@szmer.info -3 points 19 hours ago

A fact I wasn't aware of but now I am thanks to you, but not thanks to Matt. You can stop being so dense, dude.
