Without agreeing or disagreeing, I’m just pointing out that the person you replied to didn’t say that these individuals kink-shamed, but that their political affiliation does. The contention seems to be that kink shaming is fine as long as you do it to Republicans, because their party is not accepting or respectful of the spectrum of human diversity.

Yes that’s a fair question. I think it’s hard for a leftist bystander not to feel shamed. Similarly, we don’t hurl sexism at Republican women just because their platform tends to be anti-woman. Like I said, I am not agreeing with the contention, just explicating. If anyone asked my opinion, I would say that disagreeing with Republicans doesn’t make everything permitted. I do get it. Part of me wants to do the same because I find their worldviews to be ridiculous and that makes me want to use them to insult them even more. The reality, though, is there are enough of these bigots that they affect the reality we all live in, including the meaning of the terms they use, and this changes the implications when others use them.
