My money is on this guy having an affair with his employee, or sexually harassing her, but the employee was smart enough to get evidence and blackmail the guy. Other possibility is probably she got evidence of him breaking the law, and blackmailed him with that.
Moreso just the age old tale of the new young/hot partner, combined with the fact that the guy has Huntington's disease.
If only there was a story that provided the facts of the case.
The article indicates that their relationship was inappropriate and more than employer/employee
“Doug would text Karen that he loved her and her children,” the decision reads. “Meanwhile, he rarely saw his own children.”
AND
The judge notes that there is “no contemporaneous documentation” suggesting that any of the transfers were intended as loans, no repayments were ever made, and—as a practical matter—Vinci could not have afforded to pay back the amounts on her pre-tax salary of $60,000.
ALSO
Notably, Vinci’s ex-husband, who has a background in banking, advised her to get Beckman to sign “gift letters” that would put his intention in writing.
She didn't present him with such letters.
Hamilton rejected this assertion, accepting evidence from the CFO of Beckman’s car dealerships that he called her immediately after firing Vinci and explained that he had done so because he realized he was missing a lot of money.
But wait, after giving her tons of gift's he "suddenly" realized he was missing lots of money.
I 100% stand by my statement. She had something on him and likely blackmailed him. When this went to court, no way is either of them going to admit to the blackmail.
You missed the part where he had Huntington's disease which can make people obsessive.
