Graham Linehan got divorced because of his incredibly pervasive transphobia.

Fuck him.

[-] Dave@lemmy.nz 12 points 1 week ago

To be clear and so people don't get the wrong idea, Graham Linehan is the creator of The IT Crowd, he's not in this meme.

Thanks... That was extremely needed context. I would have gone around thinking that dude was an asshole if I saw him again.

[-] village604@adultswim.fan 2 points 1 week ago

I already thought this due to that missing context. I'm glad to be wrong.

That explains the episode where Douglas beats up his gf bc he realizes she transitioned.

[-] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

It was filled with transphobia, yes, and that's unacceptable. As a matter of trivia, April struck first, after realizing Douglas was reckless with her affections and hadn't been listening to her, even when she had something she felt was important to share with him. Honestly, it was satisfying watching her wipe the floor with him for a while before he got the upper hand.

"they took my family!" says man whose obsession drove everyone away from him

[-] FiskFisk33@startrek.website 1 points 1 week ago

You need to be more careful with context.

That's Richard Ayoade in the picture, and he's a fuckin' national treasure.

Oof. When I searched for him, the tagline was "Irish writer and anti-transgender activist (born 1968)" 🤮

Doesn't retroactively make the show any less funny, and this post is not any sort of endorsement of him; if it was, that would at least serve as a reason to comment the way you did, as a response.

This just comes off as empty virtue signaling.

Worked in IT support and moved to software development. I still use the "Have you tried turning it off and on again" line whenever a colleague is having issues with their machine. There are still people surprised that this works. Sadly there is now a generation that has no idea what I'm referencing when sharing the IT crowd gif.

In germany we have formal training (apprenticeship, combines school and company training) for IT fields, most prominently systems integration and app developement.
As someone who was in systems integration I can tell you, app developers don't learn a lot of basic computer knowledge.

Did you see that ludicrous display last night?

[-] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 3 points 1 week ago

What was Wenger thinking sending Walcott on that early?

[-] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

The thing about Arsenal is they always try and walk it in.

[-] loaf@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

Me, when anyone flirts with me.

Fuck, I’m awkward.

[-] daggermoon@piefed.world 1 points 1 week ago

What is this a reference to?

[-] DmMacniel@feddit.org 1 points 1 week ago

Its not a reference. Its just a joke that Maurice Moss doesn't get sexual innuendos/flirting because he's a nerd.

[-] daggermoon@piefed.world 1 points 1 week ago

I had to look him up. I've never heard of the show, probably because i'm an American.

[-] jlow@slrpnk.net 0 points 1 week ago

Is there a version of this somewhere without the canned laughter? That makes it almost unbearable for me to watch this.

[-] lime@feddit.nu 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

it's not canned, it was filmed in a studio in front of an audience. you can see it on the behind the scenes stuff.

[-] TheSambassador@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I've gone through this with shows, and all I can say is that you tune out the studio laughter after a few episodes.
