Congratulations!

Did you go the full Lemmy route and install Linux, or Windows? If Linux, which distro did you choose?

Not sure what full lemmy route is. But built full AMD, used only lemmy for support. Been fully on linux for 8years + before i was dual booting to play games here and there.

I wanted cachyos but live usb wasnt booting, then tried endeavour and it worked.

I just meant the prevalent reflex here to tell everyone to switch to Linux. And while gaming had a huge boost on Linux, there are still some cases (especially around Kernel level anti cheat), where (pure) Linux might not be a viable alternative, depending on the type of games you play.

Its funny, coz i do it in real life.

So far ive managed my family and close friends to switch to linux. I'm always there to support then though.

Hahaha, I personally use arch, Been on arch for 8+ years, rarely it broke (ringkey issue).

But for rest its endeavour+mint+fedora. I can do it since they get direct support. And I use arch btw. :D

Do you really need to? And if so, how do you know? Most of the time extra coolers don't do that much, if the cooling system is working already. So my suggestion is, watch the temps of the system and only add if you need to. No need to spend more money or make the system louder than it is. Just my opinion.

[-] hancock@retrolemmy.com 2 points 4 days ago

Yes, I know that now. Will monitor and analyze first and only add if needed. Thank you for looking out and helping. :)

Just to be clear, I don't want come over as if more fans are bad. It is entirely possible that more fans could be really helpful for your system, just clearing this up here.

Just make sure at least one front intake (to take in fresh air) and the exhaust on the other side is working. Off course your GPU, CPU and PSU have one, so nothing to say about that. And in most cases that should be enough. Make sure there are not much cables in the way of airflow; which looks pretty clean to me on the image. A second intake and just maybe one on top could be helpful, but it depends. More than that is in most cases for a normal mid gaming pc not required, if the rest of the system is working well.

There are 3 front intakes, Air cooler is pushing to back. Gpu is pushing to top.

Im thinking maybe ill try one for top when i start 1440p gaming. Since 1080p is not challenging the gpu. Thanks.

Awesome system, looking great. But you know that means no more excuses right? Git gut son!

[-] hancock@retrolemmy.com 3 points 5 days ago

Thanks friend. I wont go hollow, no matter however many tries. :D

That is some impressive GPU you got there!

I'm also kind of jealous of all that RAM, which is just so sad.

Hope this AI hype train slows down and we get our affordable memories back.

The hype train might not be slowing down, but the datacentre builds are
