Not in my opinion, no.

Both critical thinking and imagination are so core to engineering, and AI takes away so much of that.

Correction:

Idiot CEOs are creating 'Engineers' who can't think without LLMs.

They're also destroying the economy to do it.

LLMs do not have agency.

They are tools.

People have agency.

They construct and make use of the tools.

Yeah. Everything you said is true, but this is happening at the college and graduate school level too before they ever go work for a corp. Schools are spending a lot of money to indoctrinate their students into the AI pipeline.
