Your daily reminder that everything you like about life is a market inefficiency...

That said, this guy is gonna beat the recession.

[-] LH0ezVT@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

But what is the purpose of the market? Some arcane, abstract, paperclip-machine-esque efficiency?

Or rather a short-term optimizer for labour and investments to get people to produce goods and provide services that are in demand and thus keep the lights on and society running?

Because in the latter case, someone providing me with nice chocolate cookies is a feature, not a bug. The system is (somewhat) working, the market is providing me chocolate cookies with reasonable efficiency [1].

[1]: plus some rainforest destruction, but that's another issue that I personally don't believe market economy or, more specifically, capitalism is capable of solving, but this is getting off topic

They say the purpose of a system is what it does, and mainly what 'the market' does is transfer wealth upwards.

[-] LH0ezVT@sh.itjust.works 1 points 20 hours ago

That is the main purpose behind modern neoliberal turbocapitalist bullshit, yes. Explicitly designed to concentrate wealth.

The intended purpose of market economy is to optimise production. It's a shame that it works only in very limited circumstances with heavy regulation, and only for as long as the ones participating in the market do not influence the regulation.

I have never heard the phrase "everything you like about life is a market inefficiency" before, and I think it is simultaneously horrifying and accurate and my life is now a little worse. I don't know what to do with this info, but I feel I need to share it

[-] yakko@feddit.uk 24 points 3 days ago

It verges on infohazard, but what doesn't these days?

I have never heard the phrase “everything you like about life is a market inefficiency” before

well, i have, at least a similar phrase: "the goal of life is death. so why don't we all just die already?"

i think it hits in a similar vein, and the answer/solution to the riddle is probably gonna be similar somewhat.

He's beating something alright

[-] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 31 points 3 days ago

Or at least beat it during the recession

[-] Omnipitaph@reddthat.com 34 points 3 days ago

why not just send vids of yourself jerking off and skip like 3 steps?

Because it's fake (op never made any money from the gay dudes) and gay (op has lots of clips of male masturbation that he enjoys sending to other men for the benefit of everyone involved).

[-] Omnipitaph@reddthat.com 11 points 3 days ago

So double gay, cause of the happy.

[-] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 21 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Thats... a full circle... circlejerk. With extra steps.

And Profit.

Goddamn, well done anon.

[-] IronBird@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago

it's not profit if all the $ goes to tipping cam girls

[-] mkwt@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago

Well but you see, I'm pretty sure he tips the cam girls to capture more and newer nudes to restart the process at step 1.

[-] null@lemmy.org 24 points 3 days ago

OP has quadrupled the GDP of their basement.

The whole AI industry is based on this model.

[-] FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world 20 points 3 days ago

Well i would be right off to reddit to try this out if i wasn't BANNED FROM IT 😭

[-] QueenHawlSera@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

Same, I hate my reddit ban. Fuck you Reddit why did you have to absorb all forums?

[-] festnt@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 days ago

cant you just make another account or something

[-] FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Valid question - they track whether you're logging in from a device associated with [banned account], an IP associated with [Banned account], using the same patterns of behaviour as [Banned Account]. I can no longer be bothered enough to try.

I think my best bet would be to log in on my study laptop at uni or a public library, which would be a killer for productivity.

I prefer lemmy all things considered

[-] LH0ezVT@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

Devices are quite hard to track. Delete cookies, maybe create a new browser profile or use another browser and you're another "device" in their eyes. IP addresses are imperfect as well, because often many people share one IP (families, companies, universities...). And behavior patterns are always a bit fuzzy.

[-] FinjaminPoach@lemmy.world 1 points 21 hours ago

Thank you, i kind of hope it will work, but i have tried using a new seperate browser + new email address before and it didn't do anything :(
