The search is primarily why I dont use CoMaps currently. The address I'm navigating to almost never comes up. I have tried GPS coordinates and it does mostly work, but its a real hastle unfortunately.
I find that it is only accurate (same as OSMand) if I get the exact lat long coordinates - I use online tools that convert addresses to lat long.
I'm in the US and Open Street Maps address and even place name searches are highly inaccurate
Yes, I contribute to StreetComplete and other similar projects so this isn't just whining - its just the annoying state of things
It's fast for me, but then.. I have downloaded the entire offline map for my country..
I think it depends on what type of address we're talking about.. If it's a Google Maps Link, GeoShare can convert it to CoMaps link
I also have everything I need downloaded and have been using regular street addresses.
What hardware are you running?
Not sure about settings but I just tried on my Pixel 6 Pro and it wasn't slow.
I found searches complete faster* and more accurately if you pan and zoom the onscreen map closer to the destination.
* Edit: I just tried this and cannot confirm it to be true. I swear it helped me with results at one point. Please let me know if this actually works... Or if it doesn't.
I've found CoMaps to be slow too. Not sure if it's just the nature of the beast (local large database searches will just be slower than contacting a hyper optimized Google server) or specific to them vs alternatives though. I haven't tested other OSM based apps to compare.
