I assume that's good? Syria's been in bad shape since... let me see... 1963.

Most seats in parliament are voted by electoral colleges in each of Syria's districts, with al-Sharaa directly appointing the remaining one-third of legislators.

Pretty shit, actually, but not as bad as it seemed last year.

Not particularly democratic given that with a third of seats secured, al-Sharaa loyalists only need to win a quarter of the remaining seats to secure a majority in parliament.

Hopefully Syria isn't stupid enough to replace the Ba'ath with Al-Queda. It will be a real "how many times do we have to teach you this lesson, old man" kind of moment, except instead of being funny it will just be horrible.
