Really confusing account. Created a day ago just to gag on billionaire boots.

[-] MrSulu@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 hours ago

NO! We (collectively, not individually) allowed them to be created. These spoiled babies with tantrums. We just need to take their toys away.

[-] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 hours ago

Nah, just pulled from power and shoved into a nice facility where nobody ever has to deal with them again

I don't like bringing ethics in what should be a uncomplicated case of pest eradication. Billionaires need to be deleted from our reality, it's really just self-preservation.
Whether or not they deserve anything, I leave to the clergy

[-] RiverRock@lemmy.ml 6 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

I don't think anyone "deserves" anything, but I do think immediate worldwide capitalicide would be the quickest and cleanest way to solve most of humanity's current problems

Puyi: From emperor to gardener

(Better than just putting him up against the wall, I guess, right?)

[-] GiorgioPerlasca@lemmy.ml 8 points 6 hours ago

They deserve to spend their remaining days in humble, honest work, perhaps as janitors, and to write three or four books reflecting on their mistakes and seeking forgiveness.

What China did to the last emperor was the way to go.

[-] guyoverthere123@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

Yes.

There are no good billionaires.

[-] TORFdot0@lemmy.world 9 points 6 hours ago

Do they deserve to die? That’s not for me to judge but they deserve to have their excess wealth confiscated and distributed for the betterment of society

[-] Athena5898@lemmy.ml 4 points 5 hours ago

If not that, strip of everything and forced into the worst manual labor of the industry they owned till they die.

[-] ViatorOmnium@piefed.social 2 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

While I'm pretty sure I would find some methods they used distasteful, in terms of outcome I find what the Chinese did with Puyi very poetic.

Imagine we were monkeys in a forest and a few select monkeys were hoarding all of the food in their trees, letting most of it rot or go to little use aside from status and using it to bribe other monkeys to perpetuate the system. This same system that leaves other creatures to starve and suffer. This would be a deranged cancerous behavior, and even more terrifying when you consider it is almost guaranteed to pass down to the offspring. These pests would need to be driven off or eradicated as they would be a serious environmental threat. This is what must be done to billionaires, there just is no place for them in a logical system. They must be treated like rabid animals.

100% of them.

The top 1% are responsible for more pain and suffering than any other demographic. Even the holocaust wouldn't have happened if the top 1% weren't lobbying for fascism. Crimes commited by workers are often done as a result of alienation, these crimes committed by billionairs are commited from souless greed, knowing the full effect of their actions but chosing to do nothing about it.

Honestly, I can't make up my mind about killing them, I'm not sure if anyone should be killed. Perhaps with enough therapy they can become a regular person again.

Billionaires deserve to be abolished. If they won't give up control of the world's resources by choice, then yes they deserve to be killed, as an act of collective self-defense by the ecology against them. And so far, they have never voluntarily given up control.

[-] frisbird@lemmy.ml 12 points 11 hours ago

They can't actually resist appropriation personally. That would be like one person trying to stop all of 1000 people from crossing an imaginary line that's 10 miles long.

The problem isn't that they'll personally resist but that they will spend their resources on a private military to protect their assets.

Yes with the caveat if we have the power to enforce it they get the option to join the community lose all their wealth and work towards reparations to their victims. If we don't have that power yet or they refuse then yes.

[-] jtrek@startrek.website 4 points 7 hours ago

Probably. They could have used their wealth for anything but they're like dragons. Do you mourn for dragons in stories of knights slaying them?

Kill all those who hold obscene wealth whilst depriving their sisters and brothers their human rights. Vanquish the landlords, the economic speculators & the remote-owners who make profit in leisure. You should not even miss them for you do not even know who they are.

The vast majority will never see those they labour for or those they support through legalised exploitation in the paying of rents. This anonymity and remoteness of the owning class allows them to be cruel and vicious in their actions. It's also a one way mirror: for the working class must be surveilled in ever more obscene detail. Through technical innovation you will be deprived another fundamental human right! The right to privacy. Every moment of your life becomes their data.

For the working class there is no loss. Until we are all free there is work to be done. Those that shirk that responsibility can be thrown to the wayside.

No one deserves anything in the state of nature, everything just is what it is.

Desert regards The Social Contract. The contract says we mutually agree to behave respectfully towards eachother, to honor eachother’s right to exist and persist in the world. When a person fails to abide by the contract, they aren’t covered by it either. A person who hoards resources beyond what they can possibly use is not covered by the contract and deserves no protection under it.

Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.

[-] Horse@lemmygrad.ml 16 points 11 hours ago

they should surrender their ill-gotten plunder or face the wall

All? No.

But they should certainly all be contained. And in general, it's pretty safe to assume they're all guilty of a LOT of felonies, so incarceration and asset forfeiture are certainly viable options to explore. And if they manipulate the justice system to continue harming the world and extracting resources from regular people, death may be the only way to save the rest of us.

I'm not a fan of the death penalty as punishment for crimes. I'm more in favor of execution as a means of ending a direct threat against humanity. Hitler objectively deserved to be assassinated, for example.

There certainly are no good billionaires, and likely no redeemable ones. But murdering them isn't the first option.

[-] flamingleg@lemmy.ml 9 points 10 hours ago

anyone with over let's say, 100 million dollars of private wealth, should taxed at 100% (with a strong enforcement mechanism) and that money should go directly into public equity. What should the public equity be spent on? my vote is a UBI
