So, let me get this right. We offer to sell them billions in weapons, but they say "we can't afford that". So we then GIVE THEM the money to buy the weapons from us.

This is just laundering money stolen from U.S. taxpayers. The endless profits of the companies who supply these weapons are then funneled to government officials who facilitated this to begin with. This is textbook theft and money laundering. Period.

I’m glad someone else recognized this.

  1. Lack of transparency is anti democratic.
  2. This is the truth behind Biden's tut-tutting about thousands of dead Palestinian children. Spouting platitudes while fueling the slaughter. Grotesque and hypocritical

The United States is simply three weapons manufactures in a trench coat appearing as a government. I will keep saying this until even I'm tired of hearing it.

[-] nulluser@programming.dev 7 points 1 year ago

May you never grow tired of hearing the truth.

[-] Madison420@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Martin "GE" Rocketdyne, nice to meet you sir.

[-] statist43@feddit.de 4 points 1 year ago

You forgot they drive on a fossil fueled pickup Truck.

[-] dangblingus@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Ehhh, the same phrase gets tossed around about Canada, how we're 3 mining companies in a trench coat. America has 350 million people, so it's less pertinent. You're way more than 3 weapons manufacturers. You're a real country.

Hey, I love my northern folks! Plus, it seems like you guys just have better comedy, like I'm surprised we're not watching Letterkenny right now

[-] Amends1782@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

Never heard this, stealing it

[-] ShroOmeric@lemmy.world 34 points 1 year ago

These are the guys sponsoring peace. Fucking clowns.

[-] cuibono@lemmy.world 22 points 1 year ago

These are the guys "confirming" all of israel's claims about whatever the fuck is happening in Gaza. No wonder Biden misspoke about seeing the 40 beheaded babies, he was under the impression he had to "yes yes yes" everything else they had said and would say, so why not that too. With israel disallowing any independent third parties in to verify anything (wouldn't want a repeat of Shireen Abu Akleh) and murdering journalists like there's no tomorrow, this is supposed to be our fake third party verification too.

[-] Bipta@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago

When did he address the supposedly beheaded babies?

[-] crusa187@lemmy.ml 12 points 1 year ago

This was on like day 2, so 10/9 or so. An IDF person got interviewed by news and made claims about beheaded babies which Biden immediately began regurgitating. There were no beheaded Israeli babies found afaik. There are dead babies in the Palestinian hospital ICU today though.

[-] ShroOmeric@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

I mean, it's ok asking questions but good lord google is your friend. It didnt really happened in the shadows.

[-] Bipta@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

I'm sorry for not keeping up with and googling every claimed happening on the internet.

It's very okay to ask questions.

Funny how they didn't do this for Ukraine.

Guess it shows where their priorities lie. Actions speak louder than words.

[-] Blapoo@lemmy.ml 12 points 1 year ago
[-] swab148@startrek.website 2 points 1 year ago

Generals gathered in their masses...

[-] paddirn@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

They can't request something like this for Ukraine?

[-] Witchfire@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Instead the house deadlocks funding to Ukraine because their handler doesn't like it

[-] Phanatik@kbin.social -3 points 1 year ago

It is simply more acceptable to publicly support Ukraine. I have nothing against them protecting themselves but Ukraine and Israel are two different situations.

[-] sndmn@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 year ago

Yes. Ukraine is having its land stolen and Israel is....

[-] interceder270@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

If they could do this for Ukraine, then Ukraine could use American weapons to strike into Russian territory.

You're right though, the situations are very different. Israel doesn't need outside support to commit genocide.

I have nothing against them protecting themselves

Translation: You have nothing against their revenge*

[-] Narrrz@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

also more risky to more directly oppose Russia.

[-] scarabic@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Wow, I finally get my first chance to say Let’s Go Brandon.

[-] TokenBoomer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

[-] spez@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago

The House split off $14.3 billion in Israel military aid — including the $3.5 billion FMF request and the waiver language — into a separate bill tied to cuts in IRS funding, which Biden says he will veto.

I don't get it. The FMF bill is split into another bill which Biden says he will veto, even though it's coming from the white house? Not American so I don't know the process of passing bills there. Can anyone clear it up?

[-] flicker@kbin.social 14 points 1 year ago

The House here refers to the House of Representatives, not the White House.

[-] Sneptaur@pawb.social 6 points 1 year ago

The House of Representatives, led by our fascist party, split these bills. They have to go through the senate, led by our liberals, before going to our president, a liberal. The president wants to hide the spending to make himself look better in the eyes of Americans who clearly see the active genocide in the Middle East that the USA is sponsoring with lots of weapons and money to Israel.

[-] Why9@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Honest question: why would people vote for Biden again at the next election?

There's more responsibility at the hands of a leader of a powerful nation like the US, besides domestic policies. Some may argue that Trump's dislike of Netenyahu is actually preferential to Biden's Zionism

[-] TokenBoomer@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Just finished listening to August Nimtz on Upstream podcast. He explains why voting for the lesser evil will always push you further right.

[-] Thunderbird4@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Unwavering support for whatever Israel wants has been status quo for the US for decades. There's plenty of people who don't like it, but the unfortunate truth is that we are too broken and divided to fix it right now.

Trump is a literal existential threat to democracy. Assuming he becomes the republican nominee next year, our only chance of ever having a voice in US foreign policy in the future is through a second Biden term.

No candidate will ever be perfect and no vote will ever be without moral baggage, but when you consider all of the issues together and look at what Trump has already said he would do if reelected, there's really no other choice on the table anymore.

[-] biofaust@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Let's look at the bright side: at least it is obvious even to the US that being this close to Israel at the moment is something that is better done under the table.

[-] TokenBoomer@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Some would say that is the dark side.

[-] biofaust@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Bad publicity is bad for business. And that's all the US really cares about.

[-] Rapidcreek@reddthat.com -1 points 1 year ago

unilaterally blanket-approve the future sale of military equipment and weapons—like ballistic missiles and artillery ammunition — to Israel without notifying Congress

That is standard. Congress can and does get this information from the DOD.
