I'm using Partisan SMS, which is also a fork of QKSMS, that manages encryption, which is a great plus. Unfortunately, it is not actively maintained and I fear it might get obsolète soon.

That's really awesome seeing people forking this incredible app :)

I’m using Partisan SMS

Can you use it without encryption as regular sms app ?

[-] Tiritibambix@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

Yes, you use it as a regular SMS app. You just can choose which conversation is encrypted. Of course, the receiver must also use PSMS.

Similar to Silence, a Signal fork that worked over SMS that I used to use. Glad to see the idea is still alive.

Good luck on this fork, I hope it can gain traction and will continue to be alive!

I hope too! 🙏

Why should I use this over Android Messages? I use the messages web version on my laptop.

[-] lascapi@jlai.lu 8 points 1 year ago

If you are concerned by privacy you should not use Google Messages because every messages passed through the Google server.

And it's not open source.

For my point of view it's too much to use it. :)

Recently discovered quick and liked it, still needs improvement but is in the right way. Using it as my daily driver.

It is, and it's definitely much better than the stock one you get when you first open up your phone.
