Don't think quite a decade, but definitely the better half of one.
Yo. And the more time that passes, the less I miss it.
I was at about 12 when I left
Yeah, I'm a 10 yearer. Shame, I loved Rif.
Yep 10+ and I left about a week after RIF went down and deleted my account about a week later. Haven't looked back.
12 years. Deleted my account. Fuck em
My account turns 11 on August 11th... lurking 2-3 years prior. As soon as the news was dropped about API changes I came over here and switched between the two. Stopped using reddit overall once my app wasn't supported. I miss my small communities and the news from my city but I can't continue to support it
12 years, deleted my account and overwrote all posts and comments I could before I did so.
Yep, I left when it was announced Apollo was shutting down.
14y 6mo. I only logged in just now for the first time in 4 weeks to actually check how long I was a member.
I left Digg and headed over to Reddit for similar reasons.
I sense a pattern...
At least 15 years here
11 year refugee here.
I don't browse Reddit at all anymore. Overwrote all my comments then deleted my accounts. I only go if a search lands me there for something specific as a guest in a private tab.
15 year club here. Deleted and never looked back.
My oldest account is just under 14 years old. I only visit to check on the status of my data download, and check on one sub once a month.
15 Year club... sad to leave. But even sadder to see what has become. Don't plan on deleting my account but I won't renew my premium when it comes back up.
Deleted my 11 year old account. Stepped down as mod
I was on Reddit since Digg went the way of the dodo. Changed accounts one time, the one I deleted when Apollo died was just shy of 10 years. It was tough.
12 years here on my oldest account
I lost access to my first account, but it had to have been before 2008 when I created it--because I remember when they added user create-able subreddits (and I just checked at that happened in Jan 08). My second(or third?) account had 13 years on it when I left reddit.
So, I'd say I was on reddit for ~16-17 years.
Me
I'm 10 years, I haven't left Reddit completely but I've definitely started using it significantly less
12 year old Reddit account here. Though, for every end there is a new beginning. Looking forward to seeing how Lemmy continues to grow. 🙂
My cake day was July 11 2011 so almost 12 years to the day when I left.
Redditor for almost about 12 years now. Signed up on Sun 28th Aug 06:12:41 2011. Nuking my account as soon as I can get my data take-out.
I think I had 10 years on reddit. I stopped goin after the API stuff. But I am still googling old reddit threads for tech support inquiries.
Thirteen years, roughly 800k karma.
Nuked it all when RIF went down.
10 years, 120k karma
The changes would have had no immediate affect on me, but it’s the mods that made the place useable. I just can’t see it working after alienating so many of the people wrangling content
However I also expected to be next on the chopping block. I prefer to use a web browser and the constant nag to use the app was getting irritating, and they seemed to be eating away at the old UI to push us to the fiasco that replaced it (it probably doesn’t help that I use Safari on iPad and their attempt to get fancy is less compatible)
There since 2009. That's about when I started mainlining the internet. Glad to watch it burn here with all of you. Cheers!
I started using around 2013, a guy in my math class showed me the site, and I hadn't taken a single day off until a couple of days after the r*ddit ama. Now I will live and die on Lemmy
My 12th Cake Day was last week, which is how I discovered I had the Reddit app still installed on a test device that was my daily-driver a few years ago
I had a 13 and a half year old account and I haven't logged in since the blackout.
almost 11 years and over half a million karma.
Said it elsewhere sometime yesterday-- bout 13 years.
10 years here and started with BaconReader. I had a long, 5-ish year hiatus for no particular reason from Reddit and started using it again in 2019 on the official app.
I just logged back into Reddit via RedReader to find communities to join here on Lemmy via Liftoff. I'm hoping more Redditors have enough of the BS and migrate here!
