being simply observed gives me a -50% competence to anything i'm trying to do

[-] PeWu@lemmy.ml 5 points 11 months ago

And -50% intelligence while we at that

(Although -50% from 0 is still a 0)

Trying to do a basic Docker image during an interview was wild.

I was writing shit like "chmod user:user 400 file"

Somehow the person didn't notice and said everything looked fine. When the interview was over, I looked at it and every single command was shit.

I swear everytime someone looks at me when coding I suddenly forget the syntax to declaring a function, and feel like an idiot looking up whatever it is I forgot to add

This game was programmed live in front of a studio audience.

I just can't do pair programming man. It's awkward enough to code with someone watching or to watch them code, let alone trying to follow their thoughts next to my own.

This is how I feel after my company mandated working in the office 4 days a week.

[-] Fades@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

I think I finally got over this for the most part after having to lead a team of juniors. At some point it just needs to be done and its like fear inoculation in that sense. Definitely not the same as pairing with someone you know is better than you tho lol
