This needs to be the top comment. 😆
I admit I was delighted with that episode!
So was I, which is saying a lot because musicals aren't my scene.
You and M'Benga.
I thought it was fun! But I felt cheated with Spock and Chapel. They definitely should have had a duet. I'm also upset that they didn't resolve it in any meaningful way at the end.
Since La'an and Kirk were sorted out in this episode I kind of expect Chapel and Spock are going to get their resolution in the finale. But yeah it is feeling a bit like when Deanna and Worf dated lol "wow it happened and then was gone so fast hunh...".
Not lost on me that Robert Wise, who directed ‘Sound of Music,’ also directed ‘ST: The Motion Picture.’
And "The Day the Earth Stood Still", which apparently Captain Pike plays on repeat.
Before there was the Kobayashi Maru, there was Pike’s ‘Klaatu Barada Nikto’ test…

“When you transported the people off the planet, did you say the words to send them to the correct ship?”
“Yeah, basically.”
“Did you beam them to THIS SHIP?!?!”
“Look, maybe I didn't send them to our ship. But basically I sent them to A ship, yeah.”
Who wants to guess which of the main cast was previously nominated for a Tony?
I loved the episode. Some people hate it and say it's way out of tune for Star Trek, but I don't think it's any worse than the crew turning into Robin Hood or being trapped in a board game
Musical episodes always take me out of the immersion of the show because I'm always trying to figure out who's actually a good singer and who was severely auto tuned to compensate.
I will say that overall I enjoyed the episode. The Klingons had me rolling, and I really liked the psuedo-science explanation for why everyone one was singing.
🎵The warp fields are alive with the sound of music🎵
🎵With songs they have sung for a thousand light years🎵
