On my chromecast i have Google and Google Assistant disabled. I also have Projectivy launcher. I want to know how to degoogle it further, i am too scared to disable google play services because i don't have aurora store here. I also replaced Gboard with a open source alternative. Any ideas?

I'm dead keen to know. Just bought one, but want to use it without giving google everything about me.

Or, is there a privacy respecting alternative?

Anything you can play with VLC is able to cast. If you use a client like NewPipe for YouTube, you can set it up to play videos externally with VLC

I’m interested to know this too. Although mine are only used to stream YouTube, so Google isn’t getting anything new from the Chromecast.

I only use mine for Youtube too. Make sure to use SmartTube tho https://github.com/yuliskov/SmartTubeNext

Damn you said chrome cast and made me think I can get an actual dashboard on mine

I thought the new one had a built in dashboard

Aren’t those called google TVs?

I always thought the chromecast always had a dashboard until now. The new one is essentialy just android

You could use a pihole to further block tracking, but you might have mixed results. I'm sure someone has a suggestion relevant to pihole and Chromecast out there.

Not without unlocking the bootloader, which is locked up tight on all CCwGTV models especially since the OTA update to Android 12
