God, these are all so ugly

[-] hexaflexagonbear@hexbear.net 42 points 11 months ago

It's so funny seeing them side by side same-picture

[-] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 29 points 11 months ago

Same reason spam emails have terrible spelling and grammar. If they looked nice they would have intrinsic value as an art piece, but by looking hideous it weeds out anyone who isn't just blinded by the promise of easy money.

Folks, is it just me or is it getting harder to determine if something is a bit or not?

Am I just getting old?

[-] Sushi_Desires@hexbear.net 1 points 10 months ago

I had to triple check after reading the phrase "See below from Dingaling"

Remember when Seth Green was going to base a show off of his ape and then it got stolen so he couldn't legally use the character's likeness anymore.

[-] Frank@hexbear.net 34 points 11 months ago

It was wild at the time, but it's still so wild that these are just quasi-random assemblies of parts. Like this doesn't even have the pretense of being art. Just amazing.

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 24 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

The art part is how utterly absurd the entire situation is and how incredulous literally everyone else is about it when you attempt to describe them and why they have any value whatsoever.

[-] 4zi@hexbear.net 33 points 11 months ago

theyre not stolen, he still has the jpeg

[-] carpoftruth@hexbear.net 31 points 11 months ago

EVEN THE S TIER APES??? THIS WILL NOT STAND!

APES, MOBILIZE TO HOOT ON CONGRESS

[-] Antiwork@hexbear.net 28 points 11 months ago

You know how many slurp juices they had to use to get those apes?

[-] batsforpeace@hexbear.net 14 points 11 months ago

they should just combine their slurp juices into new apes!

[-] Antiwork@hexbear.net 17 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

That's not how slurp juices work. You have to use three slurp juices on an already premium ape to upgrade. slurp juices cannot be used to upgrade a basic ape or create a new ape.

[-] batsforpeace@hexbear.net 13 points 11 months ago

badeline-yeah-right so the slurp juices only work on top tier apes?

[-] Owl@hexbear.net 27 points 11 months ago

Downside of the price of NFTs collapsing -those hard working hackers will barely get anything out of this.

[-] polskilumalo@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 11 months ago

I hope they are doing it just for the bit.

MUH APES MUH PRECIOUS APES!

[-] Snackuleata@hexbear.net 22 points 11 months ago

Wait, did they get all the NFT owner's permission to post all these apes for free, or did they have to abandon the whole concept of the NFT to get their warning out? Funny how the libertarians always have to abandon their principles when the real world happens.

[-] Sushi_Desires@hexbear.net 2 points 10 months ago

Ugh just realized that sooner or later the biggest dollar value "art" heist in history will be of NFTs

If it hasn't happened already

[-] carpoftruth@hexbear.net 28 points 11 months ago

It already has through the act of selling this garbage in the first place

[-] thirtymilliondeadfish@hexbear.net 14 points 11 months ago

until the currency collapses

[-] Red_Sunshine_Over_Florida@hexbear.net 20 points 11 months ago

It would sound ridiculous to people living a decade ago that others would pay thousands of dollars for electronic funny money to buy a juice to fuse jpegs of apes together, which they also bought with said funny money. It's just so ridiculous and convoluted and yet it got as far as it did thanks in part to a decade of loose monetary policy.
