They also announced their withdrawal from this operation but they have some other operations to "maintain ~~security~~ imperialism"

France's Defence Ministry said it supported efforts to secure freedom of navigation in the Red Sea and surrounding area and said it already operated in the region.

Italy's Defence Ministry said it would send naval frigate Virginio Fasan to the Red Sea to protect its national interests in response to specific requests made by Italian shipowners.

Operation Atalanta, set up by European Union Naval Force Somalia (EUNAVFOR), operates off the Horn of Africa and in the Western Indian Ocean to support U.N. resolutions to protect the seas from piracy. Its headquarters is in Spain.

Operation Agenor is a European-led operation which aims to guarantee freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a major shipping lane for oil exports from Gulf states.

The Palestinian resistance fighters have nerves of steel. It takes a lot of courage to sneak up on a tank with advanced detection systems.

Even John Mearsheimer is calling "Israel's" attack on Gaza a genocide.

First few paragraphs of the article

I am writing to flag a truly important document that should be widely circulated and read carefully by anyone interested in the ongoing Gaza War.

Specifically, I am referring to the 84-page “application” that South Africa filed with the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on 29 December 2023, accusing Israel of committing genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza.¹ It maintains that Israel’s actions since the war began on 7 October 2023 “are intended to bring about the destruction of a substantial part of the Palestinian national, racial and ethnic … group in the Gaza Strip.” (1) That charge fits clearly under the definition of genocide in the Geneva Convention, to which Israel is a signatory.²

The application is a superb description of what Israel is doing in Gaza. It is comprehensive, well-written, well-argued, and thoroughly documented. The application has three main components.

First, it describes in detail the horrors that the IDF has inflicted on the Palestinians since 7 October 2023 and explains why much more death and destruction is in store for them.

Second, the application provides a substantial body of evidence showing that Israeli leaders have genocidal intent toward the Palestinians. (59-69) Indeed, the comments of Israeli leaders – all scrupulously documented – are shocking. One is reminded of how the Nazis talked about dealing with Jews when reading how Israelis in “positions of the highest responsibility” talk about dealing with the Palestinians. (59) In essence, the document argues that Israel’s actions in Gaza, combined with its leaders’ statements of intent, make it clear that Israeli policy is “calculated to bring about the physical destruction of Palestinians in Gaza.” (39)

Third, the document goes to considerable lengths to put the Gaza war in a broader historical context, making it clear that Israel has treated the Palestinians in Gaza like caged animals for many years. It quotes from numerous UN reports detailing Israel’s cruel treatment of the Palestinians. In short, the application makes clear that what the Israelis have done in Gaza since 7 October is a more extreme version of what they were doing well before 7 October.

There is no question that many of the facts described in the South African document have previously been reported in the media. What makes the application so important, however, is that it brings all those facts together in one place and provides an overarching and thoroughly supported description of the Israeli genocide. In other words, it provides the big picture while not neglecting the details.

[-] CriticalResist8@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 9 months ago

Get them all in one place so they can bomb them all at once... it's not gonna work. Nobody is gonna go to those "compounds".

[-] CriticalResist8@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 11 months ago

REMEMBER: the Occupier is unpopular the world over. People by and large stand with Palestine, even in the imperial core. The reason they are trying to outlaw protests for Palestine and supporting Palestine is because the ruling ideas are the ideas of the ruling class, and governments want to make their people think that support for Palestine is lower than it really is.

[-] Beat_da_Rich@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

The zionists funneled the residents of Gaza at the Egyptian border, telling them that's where they were allowed to escape.

Then they bombed it.

The world is literally watching a holocaust happen. Not just reading about it like in the 40s. But watching it. And liberals are either ignoring it or standing with the ones perpetrating it.

Not a single person who stands with Israel should be allowed to forget what they supported.

[-] AssortedBiscuits@hexbear.net 4 points 11 months ago

Not just reading about it like in the 40s. But watching it. And liberals are either ignoring it or standing with the ones perpetrating it.

They did the same exact thing almost a century ago. It was the Red Army who brought the Holocaust to an end, not the West.

[-] American_Communist22@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 11 months ago

If only we had a Soviet Red Army now...

[-] cfgaussian@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 11 months ago

One of the saddest facts that you can learn as communist about the history of the Palestinian occupation is that the settler colonial army was as successful as it was during the first few decades of its existence thanks to incorporating a large number of Red Army veterans with experience conducting operations on the eastern front in WW2...

[-] American_Communist22@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 11 months ago

Traitors are gonna get whats coming to them

[-] American_Communist22@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 11 months ago

Settlers deserve nothing but death. All are fascists. All are Nazis. Burn Israel to the ground.

[-] proletarian_girlboss@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 11 months ago

The music festival was one of the most egregious displays of "civilian" settler disregard for Palestinian life I think is even possible. A literal rave on stolen land next to the concetration camp filled with the people they stole that land from. And that is what western media uses as anti-resistance atrocity propaganda.

[-] Beat_da_Rich@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Read a few interviews from their perspective too. They were all warned that militants broke out of Gaza a few miles away. The audacity to party right next to an open-air concentration camp is one thing. But they also knew there were violent disturbances.

Can't find the exact article at the moment, so feel free to help me out, but one survivor was quoted saying "This stuff happens there all the time."

Tinfoil time, but part of me almost suspects that the threat of an attack on the festival could have been underplayed by the IDF, just so they could have propaganda fodder.

Hezbollah has hit a major "Israeli" surveillance base. Short video here, longer one here.

The Meron Base is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and managing all air operations towards Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Cyprus, and the northern part of the eastern basin of the Mediterranean Sea. Additionally, this base is a main center for electronic jamming operations in the aforementioned directions and is staffed by a large number of elite officers and soldiers of the zionist forces.

My city just refused a pro Palestina protest that was planned tomorrow. The same city of which the far right mayor today remembered Israeli victims and called Palestina's uprising terrorism. The same city of which the police force has recently been trained by the Israeli police force.

The protest is still happening, albeit at a different place. And I'll be going.

Israel dropped 6000 bombs in the last few days. That's as much as the US did on Afghanistan IN A YEAR. Afghanistan is 1800x bigger than Gaza.

I was off the grid without internet for the past week, and I come back online to find out that the Third Intifada may have started. It's one of those weeks Lenin told us about. Here's hoping this is the beginning of something really meaningful to Palestinian freedom.

[-] Mzuark@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 9 months ago

Even r/WorldNews can't defend the current fuck up with the hostages. I'm sure that won't last though, they'll get control of the narrative again soon.

[-] PanArab@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago)

Many Arab analysts are frustrated. "Is this the army we lost to in 1948 and 1967?". The skill level of the occupation military is so laughable and the cowardice is clearly evident. They are really only good at bombing civilians, but otherwise can't fight.

[-] DankZedong@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 11 months ago

Israel has the better weapons and allies in terms of military power. That's not always the most important thing, but what are the prospects of Palestina being successful? And what possible allies will they have? I don't see Iran coming to help anytime soon tbh.

We are run by a neoliberal crowd of crooked scumbags. Irish people like to pride ourselves as some kind of freedom fighting rebels in our idealistic daydreams. When it comes to material reality, we vote in wankers who run the state as an oppressive arm of the USA. The people see themselves as one thing but when push comes to shove we're no different to the people who oppressed us.

[-] CaptainRipcord@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 10 months ago

I gotta be honest, if any country could vote itself into actual socialism, it feels like it would be Ireland lol

[-] DankZedong@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 11 months ago

IDF tells 1.1 million Palestinians to move away from Northern Gaza.

This is impossible, of course, and I suspect they only say this to pat themselves in the back when they attack and kill tens or maybe hundreds of thousands civilians.

[-] Hagels_Bagels@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 11 months ago

"You will be able to return to Gaza only when another announcement permitting it is made," the IDF said.

"The United Nations considers it impossible for such a movement to take place without devastating humanitarian consequences," Dujarric added. "The United Nations strongly appeals for any such order, if confirmed, to be rescinded avoiding what could transform what is already a tragedy into a calamitous situation." State of play: UN Secretary-General António Guterres spoke twice on Thursday night with Israeli Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan and said he wants to get clarification at the highest political level about Israel's request to evacuate the population from the northern Gaza strip, a UN source said.

Erdan in a statement called the "UN's response to Israel's early warning to the residents of Gaza is shameful!" "For many years, the UN has turned a blind eye to the arming of Hamas and its use of the civilian population and civilian infrastructure in the Gaza Strip as a hiding place for its weapons and murder," Erdan said. "Now, instead of standing by Israel, whose citizens were slaughtered by Hamas terrorists and who tries to minimize harm to those not involved, it preaches to Israel. It is better for the UN to focus now on returning the hostages, condemning Hamas, and supporting Israel's right to defend itself," he said.

It's sickening. Even if this was practical, and they peacefully wait for the occupier to "permit" them to return to their already besieged land, what will be left of it after they are done, given what the world has already seen Israel do in just a few days?

A cowardly army that’s only tough bombing unarmed civilians. Abu Obeida said it, no prisoner is making it back home alive without a prisoner exchange deal. Though he wasn’t betting on the occupation army being this useless.

A community for everything related to Palestine and the occupation currently underway by the occupying force known as Israel.

Anti-Zionism is not anti-Semitism. Existence is resistance for Palestinians.

Please refer to Israel as Occupied Palestine, or occupied territories. The IDF is a fascist and ethnonationalist occupying force. Israelis are settlers. We understand however that the imperial narrative (which tries to legitimise Israel) is internalised in the imperial core and slip-ups are naturally expected.

We always take the sides of Palestine and Palestinians and are unapologetic about it. Israel is an occupying power whose "defence force"'s (note the contradiction) sole purpose for existing is to push Palestinians out so they can resettle their rightful land. If you have anything positive to say about Israel we do not care.
