I have parrots. They're super intelligent but they're like cats in that they know exactly what you want from them, but they won't do it unless they feel like it. Bipolar little shits too, they go from cuddly little angels, to bitey little brats in seconds.

Plenty of dogs like that too... Mine used to wait until I showed him a treat before doing anything I said, and if I didn't have a treat he would just give me the funniest "Do you think I'm stupid?" look and go back to whatever he was doing.

My wife's dog won't come when I call the dogs to take them outside until I walk into the room he's in and tell him directly. Little shit.

Had to take my Corgi to training to get her off the "treat based" rewards. The first 6 months we had her it was the only way to get her to do something.

Lovebirds are really fun. In general parrots are very intelligent, but the large ones usually do less of this funny stuff.

Please consider cross-posting to the Parrots community to help keep it alive!

Dang, that's really adorable! Specially the roll at the end and the way it goes back into the cage and closes the door :)

I wish I had a bird

Think twice. They are an enormous amount of work and live to be 50-60. They aren't like cats or dogs. They can be amazing pets if you're up for the challenge and are willing to devote a significant amount of your life to them.

No, yeah you're right. I'm also not entirely convinced that keeping them indoors is totally justified. It's more like a would be very nice to have one maybe some day in the future kinda thing
