I've seen full reddit threads of gamers raging on bugs in betas. Like, that's what they're there for. It's not so you get special early access. It's so you report those bugs and they fix it.
I remember when companies would release a "demo", either for download or included on a disc in a gaming magazine. It wasn't uncommon for companies to patch their demo a few times before the game was released.
This was before patching a game multiple times after release was viable.
