The settler colonialist countries are doing what they've always done.

Germany’s a wanna be settler colonial country, fortunately they failed in WWII. In general they’re just floundering imperialists like the rest of the west.

[-] relay@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 1 year ago

They're trying to succeed this time in WWIII. They'll likely fail though.

Colonize Europe? Somewhere else?

[-] relay@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 1 year ago

Last time they couldn't build a Lebensraum style empire colonizing the baltics/Russia. Helping fascist Isn'treal get away with genocide is only "fair" in their eyes. Colonial powers will see the limitations of what brutality can give them.

Why does this feel like the stage is being set to declare war on the Hague?

[-] stmcld@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 year ago

You know, someone joked about the ICJ finding Israel guilty and setting off a cascade of events eventually leading to... the US declaring that they're invading the Hague, Germany giving Israel a base to join the attack on the Hague. NATO breaking and ww3.

I thought it was funny at the time, but damn i didn't think that Germany would be defending Israel this hard against documented crimes against humanity

[-] Mzuark@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 1 year ago

The worst part is that none of this is really a "defense". Israel is killing innocent people, they know it, we know it, everyone knows it. The only response they care to give is that the alternative is that it'll happen to them, which is impossible on several levels anyway. This "trial" is basically just the West vs South Africa in a tug of war over who gets to declare right and wrong.

time is a flat circle, or whatever.

"Don't commit genocide...without me!"

[-] Swinging6917@lemmygrad.ml 16 points 1 year ago

Germany was and remains a fascist and genocidal country.

Archive link for anyone who doesn't want to give clicks to zionist publications: https://archive.ph/Wv8qB

So apparently this is using some sort of legal mechanism in the court for them to appear and give evidence/rebuttal on the case.

I really have to hope it doesn't work and they don't bog it down for 6 months to allow the zionists time to complete their genocide and destroy more evidence.

Somewhere I really think these people believe they are on the right side of this. Because even though the capitalist overlords have their own benefits of Israel existing, defending it this much surely isn't worth the PR drama, right? Like, it's one thing not taking a stance on the topic like many other European countries do, but to actively defend Israel this hard is something else.

[-] DamarcusArt@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 1 year ago

It's easy to imagine the rich and powerful as this group of evil villains sitting in a dark boardroom somewhere and plotting sinisterly, but the reality is that they are just people, and people want to think that they are good guys, doing the right thing. People are also really good at justifying their own actions, and convincing themselves that they are doing things for moral reasons, and not for personal benefit.

Same country that is greatly responsible for this "Israel" debacle is doing the same thing. Very nice, very cool.

Do have a better article source than the fucking Times of Israel?

This article tries to downplay the number of civilians killed by Israel. In fact, the estimate of 23,000 is widely recognized as an undercount as it doesn't include the people who are unidentified under the rubble of buildings bombed by Israel.

Mods, can we please ban Times of Israel from this sub?
