If you liked Zero Dawn, Forbidden West is a nice step forward. Combat is more fluid, you start a little higher up the ladder, the perk trees are a little better, and Aloy really comes into her own, story wise. There's nothing wrong with Zero Dawn Aloy, but she has a very comfortable handle on the technology in Forbidden West, as well as an increased confidence in the absolute necessity of her actions. The writing and performance of her role as an advanced technology expert interacting with primitive religious tribes is really well done.

I'm not really a "story" guy in games. I listen to an audiobook a day for my story content, and games are almost all about the mechanics. Horizon does a great job there. But really good writing is a nice little bonus when it happens and this is one of my favorites (though I'm nowhere near done Forbidden West).

I wish they were more upfront about the GOG release date.
I'll gladly buy this once it's available DRM-free, like its predecessor.
