This is what happens when you hire an SS officer to run your penal system. I've gotten into arguments with fellow leftist on this site about their support for the al-Asaad regime. A lot of them claim that Russia is fighting against the Nazification of Europe and anyone fighting against western hegemony are in fact the good guys.
Syria is an obvious refutation of these claims, the Assad family hired and protected Alois Brunne, the right hand man of Adolf Eichmann, for decades. He helped set up their penal system and black sites, the ones that would help train CIA assets during the war on terror.
