Buy a pixel and install GrapheneOS
GrapheneOS
What's the advantage of this OS over regular Android?
You can disable network permissions for individual apps, which means no ads. Those spammy games that have a million ads suddenly are ad-free, no cracks or pirating needed.
That’s amazing, thank you
This
As simply as I can put it: Better optimization and no bloat.
CalyxOs is cool too
What does calyx to better than gos?
Wow, it is a 9 month thread, what a blast from the past. Well, to me, everything, because graphene os does nothing for me- it simply does not support my device. I am not going to buy a fresh new expensive google phone ... to degoogle. I am on a refurbished used phone with calyx, still getting updates, and very happy with my experience.
Nice
Yea, grapheneos is a tad too device fussy.
I should look into calyx for my ancient stuff
Check out oneplus 7 pro. It might be just right
Posted from my trusty op7pro, that I pre-ordered back in 2019 : fuck no, custom ROMs are so bad. So much bugs, so little battery life. I'm just holding to it until the pixel 8 releases.
Which is a shame, cuz the hardware is still godlike.
Im still using android 12, usually have 5.5 hours SOT (it has been used since 2019 so about 4 years without changing battery. Still good). And youre right. Hardware is godlike so im keeping it. Edge to edge display without notch, my dream phone tbh.
Aye I wish I could go back to 12....
I wish oneplus software was actually oneplus and not oppo with different name. Oxygen os died with oxygen os 12, still sadest moment in phones for me
Basically any Android with unlockable bootloader.
And you should get Lucky Patcher if you want to pirate in app payments.
I would add to this: any widely used among enthusiasts Android to ensure (as best as can be ensured) decent long term support.
Find a ROM you'd want to flash (GrapheneOS is a popular option for its privacy and lack of added bloat) and visit their website. View their list of supported devices, and pick one from among them that fits your bill and can be had unlocked (i.e. not bought from a carrier in some kind of subscription/payment plan) and get that.
Google Pixel phones and OnePlus phones are devices I regularly see getting the latest versions from the major OSes. Samsung devices also. I know you had bad experiences with them in the past, but the manufacturer's (lack of) continued support plays no small part in the reason you've experienced that. If they stop supporting the device 3 years from now and it starts to slow down, they might just be able to convince you to buy the new one...
Officially supported phones for GrapheneOS are pretty much limited to the latest two generations of Google pixel models.
The recommendation is not wrong in the general sense, but I doubt that the OP knows enough for setting up a custom ROM. They think that NewPipe is piracy.
Unlockable bootloader is not nearly enough. You have to make sure that the Android ROM you want to use still supports it, and if possible also that it will keep supporting it for a few more years.
For longevity reasons, yes. But what do you need a custom ROM for piracy? Root helps with piracy, since it allows you to e.g. modify the /data/data contents of an app.
But what good would a custom ROM do for piracy specifically?
And if they just want streaming (as it seems in the OP), literally any android phone is good enough, not even root needed. I don't know of a single android phone that doesn't allow sideloading.
I'm doing just fine with my Poco F2 Pro and Paranoid Android.
Poco F2 Pro and Paranoid Android.
Is this phone available in the US market?
Huh, not sure, it is a 2019 phone I think, I got it from a local website.
Suddenly; Radiohead.
Pixel, maybe with grapheneos
