Also your paid Operating System (if you use windows).

MacOS, iOS and stock Android, too for that matter. Dark times.

stock android? nah, aosp is way too barebones for that

any phone you buy, tho... that's another story

If you're being genuine: "stock android" or "stock ROM" generally refers to the Android operating systems which are already installed (by the OEM) on phones when you buy them.
AOSP is generally just referred to as AOSP.

On Microsoft's current Windows versions you don't need an additional Anti-Virus anyway. Windows Defender does the same and generally is as good as or better.
Also avoids trusting more parties.

On microsofts current windows, windows itself is the virus.

But if you need it, then i recommend you: Adblocker ( uBlock Origin for example ) with lists with malicious links and it removes many of those scam websites that google recommends.

Dont trust third party apps, dont use chrome(or chrome based browsers) it will steal more data than the free anti virus software ever does.

And much much more.

I would argue this is not limited to current versions of Windows.

Yeah, then you just have to worry about Microsoft stealing your data.

[-] StaticFalconar@lemmy.world 9 points 8 months ago

Then don't use Microsoft and join the 4% linux gang.

Done and done. Only Windows system in my home is my partner's computer.

They're already stealing your data anyway. Might as well let them block others while they're at it.
