Idk I think they just want an excuse to shut down stores, like how Target lied about shoplifting being the cause for store shutdowns.

But yea it's clear the poor are cutting spending esp with welfare cuts. Failed state. Biden would rather lose elections than do any material good.

Damn. The "dollar store" moving in to an abandoned storefront is usually a sign that there's no profit left to squeeze out of a community.

Maybe because they tied the price of the goods directly to the value of a single dollar and their gimmick is killing them now.

You've heard of the food desert, get ready for the all consumer goods desert. Surely nothing will go wrong with that.

Ghost Towns are an American Tradition. One of the most noticable parts of our culture.

There needs to get a point where ghost towns are legally considered ghost towns, and can therefore have all the building materials reclaimed to be recycled, and the area gets rewilded.

Probably expensive as shit, but still would at least be nice to clear out rotting infrastructure.

What's the point of doing a settler colony if you have clean up the devastation in your wake?

Inflation so high they're calling it the Two Dollar Store now

The dollar twenty five tree

[-] EmmaGoldman@hexbear.net 18 points 7 months ago

They currently have 16,774 stores in the US and Canada. What the fuck.

Dollar stores set up in areas like rural towns where they can essentially be the only option for food and everything else. Fairly small stores with slightly inflated prices for the quantities you buy, but cheap in the moment

They’re bodegas for the rural south

[-] VILenin@hexbear.net 7 points 7 months ago

Love me some bodega discourse

[-] zifnab25@hexbear.net 16 points 7 months ago

They're comparatively very small, typically just a storefront in a strip mall. Nothing like the Walmart / Target mega-stores

This is kind of a good thing since both of those stores are awful.
