Yep, when you buy a book at a bookstore, you actually own it and it can't be easily taken from you.

that it wasn't necessary to push out smaller book stores and help galvinize the big box store shit smear that we have to deal with now

This article is from 2022.

It mentions crypto is in decline as a contrast to B&N. Bitcoin is at an all time high last time I checked.

While Bitcoin is extremely volatile, it brings into question the relevance of everything else in the article.
