This article definitely gave me pause... The new experiences part did speak to me as I always love to learn new things and go to new places, and on the phone is a fast and convenient way to do that but at a cost. There are so many problems in this world, and trying to find solutions as quick as possible feels a little paralyzing at times.

Meanwhile it made me realize, I have to slow down a bit and take many days to be able to make something to my full creative potential. I will take some time to reflect on what it is I really want to do now.

Thanks for the share.

So many quotable pieces in this article. This is one that stayed with me:

“ The brain has learned that the phone is a random provider of "new experiences". Even in airplane mode, it was demonstrated that having the phone on your desk or in your bag degrades heavily your attention and your thinking performance. Performance went back to normal only when the phone was put in another room.”

I can absolutely believe this. I find even other people’s phones distracting.

If you feel like digging more, the books cited in the article are good. I’ve read digital minimalism and I plan to read the new one “slow productivity”
