I hit a pothole at 40mph last week. It was round a corner so I had no chance to avoid it. Hit it so hard the self leveling mechanism in my headlight has broken. So now, thanks to New Forest District Council (and central government for underfunding them) I now have to find the money for a new headlight.
Is it not possible to put in a claim against the council?
The giant heavy vehicles on the roads aren't helping.
For me it's the increase in vehicles which is the obvious issue.
I remember driving in the early 2000s, there is significantly more traffic these days, access to cheap cars and population growth are probably the cause but the effect is equally as clear.
The decline of alternatives has not helped the situation aswell.
I was shocked to find a particularly bad stretch near me to have had all of the potholes filled a while back.
Most of them came back after a month, but still, it was nice to not have to play dodgems on this stretch for a bit.
Also, anybody driven on the M48 eastbound between Newport and Bristol recently? Holy shit is it bad.
