The people that come up with these things are incapable of any thought outside of the current single one in their pea sized brains.
Kid throws a spitball at another classmate and the teacher shoots them both because they have a zero tolerance policy on bullying.
What if we used the right sign, but didn't actually arm teachers? Like those fake security cameras in retailers?
Neither actually, but prohibiting weapons is a policy that when acted on can protect children

Better hope that first attempt doesn't succeed.
I'd think the second sign would be helpful, even if it's false. Think on it: Mass murderers go for soft targets, every time. They'll just go someone that has the first sign.
Weird how these teenage shooters are cold, mechanical, min-maxing, number-crunching killing machines... but they always pick their own school as the highest-ROI target.
It must be the tactical advantage of knowing the hallways.
Or... They're deep in a mental health crisis and actively want to die, and see the attack as a two-fer: kill the cause of my suffering, and then die to either myself or the police.
I'm sure a sign that serves as a daily reminder that "There's plenty of ammo here, your targets will stand their ground and not run, and you will definitely die instead of getting captured" will deter them at the earliest possible moment: Once they're already at the school, committed to dying, and packing heat.

The thinkg about this argument that always gets me is that they clearly understand the concept that weapons free zones dont work because people that dont care can just bring in guns from outside. But then unironically say "But Chigaco has gun laws and they have high crime rates!!!!" without ever making the connection.
I haven't made the connection either. Maybe I'm just tired. Can you explain it to me?
That people are bringing guns from outside Chicago to commit crimes. Possibly even people from outside Chicago coming with their guns
Chicago has laws which restrict guns, but the city limits directly border on Indiana, which does not. In large part, the guns used in Chicago crime come from just minutes away in the environs of Gary.
