2001: A Space Odyssey is a 1968 epic science fiction film produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick. The screenplay was written by Kubrick and science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke, and was inspired by Clarke's 1951 short story "The Sentinel" and other short stories by Clarke. Clarke also published a novelisation of the film, in part written concurrently with the screenplay, after the film's release. The film stars Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood, William Sylvester, and Douglas Rain and follows a voyage by astronauts, scientists, and the sentient supercomputer HAL to Jupiter to investigate an alien monolith.

The film is noted for its scientifically accurate depiction of space flight, pioneering special effects, and ambiguous imagery. Kubrick avoided conventional cinematic and narrative techniques; dialogue is used sparingly, and there are long sequences accompanied only by music. The soundtrack incorporates numerous works of classical music, including pieces by composers such as Richard Strauss, Johann Strauss II, Aram Khachaturian, and Gyรถrgy Ligeti.

The film received diverse critical responses, ranging from those who saw it as darkly apocalyptic to those who saw it as an optimistic reappraisal of the hopes of humanity. Critics noted its exploration of themes such as human evolution, technology, artificial intelligence, and the possibility of extraterrestrial life. It was nominated for four Academy Awards, winning Kubrick the award for his direction of the visual effects. The film is now widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential films ever made.

Has anybody ever gone to Mexico for dental work? I don't think I have anything seriously wrong. I had literally not had a cavity as an adult so I just got sick of paying 200 bucks to be the easiest client ever, but I've got a feeling I might have a couple after neglecting having an 'expert' look at them. I'm also just considering letting the local university students practice on me to do a cleaning and check up. I've heard it takes like 6 hours though cuz they are supervised by the instructors.

Okay folks, how's this

CW: Fascism, "media literacy", the discourse, hentai-free Anime hentai-free

spoilerFrank's Law of Fascism in Media; Any work about fascism that doesn't depict communism is probably fascist. Any work that depicts communism but doesn't depict fascism is probably fascist.

Basically; Communism and Fascism are inherently intertwined. Fascism is nothing more than the reaction of the Bourgeoisie and their lackeys to communism. Taking several giant leaps from that point, I believe that any media product that offers a critical portrayal of communism in a vacuum, that is without fascism as context, is fascist. Well, fashy at least. The type specimen would be Orwell's Animal Farm, in which everyone but Hitler is invited to the party. On the other side of it, any depiction of fascism without communism will tend to be an apologia of fascism; Attack on Titan got me thinking on this line. The story portrays everyone as genocidal ethnonationlists, and it's ultimate thrust is that there is no alternative to genocidal ethnonationalism. This reproduces a core part of the fascist worldview; different ethnonational groups will struggle against each other in a zero sum war until all the impure untermensch are annihilated and the volk can finally find their true expression as the pure race.

This doesn't apply to stories that are about daily life in Communist nations, nor about media where Communism is only indirectly portrayed, as in say Jojo Rabbit where the war is happening but you don't actually see any commies.

Eitherway, let me know what you think, I've been in the trenches racking up downvotes for my hot takes about how most people who complain about media literacy are not themselves media literate and what I'm going to say next will really piss them off. f

Not pleased by the dipshit sinophobic orientalist western chauvinist NATOid samรญ guy I interacted with today. He's such a shit person, he's all "Oh i'm an urbanist, I'm a progressive, I want good things!" then not believe a singular word out of my mouth of china being a normal place with normal people. God.

Also he's in the military, which just adds to his smug aura smug-aura-mocks-me
