• Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the plan is intended to make the river a tourist attraction for Visit Melaka Year 2024 (TMM 2024).

• “I will be asking the Melaka River and Coastal Development Corporation (PPSPM) to submit a designated schedule to allow recreational and water sport training activities including canoe boat and dragon boat racing to be held along Phase Two of Sungai Melaka,” he said.

• Ab Rauf said the plan only involves Phase Two of Sungai Melaka as Phase One was busy with the Melaka River Cruise and wasn’t suitable for water sport activities.
