Not until you go out and shoot a couple minorities.

and their dogs

Now now, less discrimination. Other weapons deserve the podium too. With the amount of times they tased pregnant women, or beated unarmed men with their batons.

Guns don't deserve all the credit, I didn't even mention pepper spray or just plain old hands and knees.

Hey now, give the cops a break. Recently there’s been a progressive movement in law enforcement to change the culture and to not shoot minorities and their dogs exclusively. It’s just a bonus and easier to clean up when it’s a minority.

You're missing your daily quota for harassing people, though.

Have you violently assaulted and/or mentally abused your domestic partner? Do you feel the need to over compensate for your limited intelligence and tiny dick? How about be willing to stand around and do nothing in your punisher skull underwear while children are being shot?

You need to also actively harm society and be a blight on the human race.

Please make sure to assault someone, shoot a dog and then get a nice paid vacation, funded by tax dollars :)

[-] DosDude@retrolemmy.com 0 points 2 years ago

I would hope the paid vacation would be more common in America, not something negative. The reality of the world sucks sometimes. Thankfully I live in Europe, and paid vacations are the norm.

[-] Duke_Nukem_1990@feddit.de 2 points 2 years ago

Paid vacation was a euphemism for a suspension with full pay.

[-] DosDude@retrolemmy.com 1 points 2 years ago

Alright then, I was out of the loop. Carry on.

This thread makes me think that normal people should be cops too. People who don’t want to be cops should be cops. Like a true public service. Do it because you aren’t the typical type of person to be one.

Thoughts?

Like an alternative to compulsory military service? Interesting.

While I think it would be helpful too many things are structured to keeping things the way they are. Like systems are set up with a default outcome in mind. If something is set to collect a payment then the auto payment works super well, but canceling is made rather byzantine. Police work to someone who does want to serve their community might be the same way. If someone calls over a "homeless person sleeping in the bench near by" what can you do? There isn't much the department will help you with and if you don't push them around they will call again to say "you are not doing your job". Default outcome is shittier cops.

Is the job solely eating doughnuts? If so, sign me the fuck up!

[-] lord_ryvan@ttrpg.network 1 points 1 year ago

And murdering people because of their skin colour, if I should believe these comments... Yikes.

[-] TwoGems@lemmy.world 11 points 2 years ago

Make sure you block roads and get in the way also for zero reason while obstructing the efforts of ambulance drivers

[-] avattar@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 2 years ago

In OP's defense, I think most cops don't go and attack minorities daily, it's probably more of a once a week thing. Most days they will just sit around, do nothing and eat donuts.

[-] snausagesinablanket@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I shouldn't have to defend a shower thought.

[-] darcy@sh.itjust.works -2 points 2 years ago

that is actually mental

[-] thecam@lemmy.world -4 points 2 years ago

What? That is like saying driving a car will make you feel like a cop. I get it, its a stereotype, a common joke, but as a shower thought?

The comments are just toxic in this thread too.

[-] lord_ryvan@ttrpg.network 2 points 1 year ago

These comments are insane, and not adding to a discussion, at all.

Why are you here? What value are you adding to this thread?

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted, clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts: 1

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
    • If you feel strongly that you want politics back, please volunteer as a mod.
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report the message goes away and you never worry about it.
