From the director of Rogue One
Gotta give it to Gareth Edwards ... I'm guessing he's the only new-Star-Wars director who has made it out with a poster worthy marketable credit.
It's also pretty damning to the franchise that all of the directors were already established--or like Gareth Edwards and Rian Johnson, are up-and-comers--who are generally seen as being better than the Star Wars films they were involved with.
Clearly the problem was not just the directors. The whole approach was fundamentally broken.
It 100% had to do with top level leadership interference. People feeling like they had to stake their claim in the franchise without understanding or really caring about the material.
Sounds interesting, I'm really hungry for more Sci-fi!
Looks interesting. I’ll watch this
That picture gives me major Scarif vibes
Interesting that it's not getting its release delayed like Dune Part 2 (both films share a cinematographer, so if Dune had always been planned for March, then they could have used Greg Frasier more on The Creator, ironically enough).
I prefer this poster to the IMAX version:
Probably because it's not as important and the cast isn't as famous.
For the studios, eager for Box Office profits, I would've thought all films were equally important.
The Creator doesn't have actors with the same promotional clout as Timothée Chalamet or Zendaya, but - as things stand - it's still likely to end up without having received any promotion at all from its writers or its cast.
Maybe it's just that Disney are more worried about been seen to be reacting to the strikes than Warners Bros. are.
Or when the stars can’t promote it, it’s not a big deal if they are not that famous. And with others gone, the competition is easier. I wouldn’t read into the comparison too much. There are valid arguments in all directions. Each will make a decision that matches their predictions and their projected differences by moving.
