Strangely aggressively down voted.
Well its Elon Musk bullshit, not really useful content. The guy is neither scientist nor inventor, so nothing he says here even has grounds to be correct, never mind believable.
Wait, but I thought he sent a Dragon capsule to mars by 2018? Or two Starships by 2022. Or passenger rockets between London and New York
Didn't those things happen? But surely my Tesla will drive itself across the country at the push of a button right? And if not, I can use a special tunnel, or a vaccuum train to get around, right?
Well, at least the solar roofs are helping safe the world with their amazing production. And soon well have have human robots!
Or were those things also not true?
How about launching rockets privately at a fraction of a cost from what the states were launching?
How about affordable EVs? And proving to automakers that EVs can sell so now everybody's doing it?
And many more...
But yeah, it's easier to pick and choose just to be on the trend.
How about launching rockets privately at a fraction of a cost from what the states were launching?
Thank TRW and maybe Tom Mueller. As someone with family that worked on Apollo, space shuttle etc. TRW is the reason any of that shit is happening.
How about affordable EVs?
How about them? They don’t exist at elons co. Tesla cancelled the affordable model outright leaving their cheapest model at 40k. HOWEVER, they are slowly rolling out a truck that rusts in the rain yet starts at 80k and can run OVER 6 FIGURES so give them credit for…that?
Maybe they had to cancel the cheap model because according to investors elon himself is poisoning the brand? Or maybe it’s cause under his management the build quality has gone to shit?
Maybe just the racism, or sexism, or harassment his workers constantly suffer?
So elon gets credit for what? And why? …because he sued Tesla to force them into calling him a founder even though he just bought his way in?
And just as you hand wave him credit for “many more…” so shall I hand wave to the many many shitty business practices that Elon brings to the table all while you give him credit for other people’s work.
So why should I celebrate someone who really inherited their wealth and primarily uses it to plunder other people’s work? Why should I congratulate someone who called a real hero a pedophile for some reason and then claimed it was just a joke bro.
But I guess why not support him? What could possibly happen by propping up a moronic man-baby who then uses his ill gotten gains plus a majority stake from Saudi Arabia to take over the organizing tool of the Arab spring and prop up hate speech?
Well just today… Elon Musk Claims 'Limited Understanding' Of Why He's Being Sued After Tweets Forced A Family To Flee Their Home
Amongst the sea of businessmen to pledge fan service to, I’d rather support one who may be less famous, less wealthy… but ultimately far more honest, competent, and WAY LESS OF A MORONIC RACIST ASSHOLE.
Uh... the starship did go to space a couple weeks ago, you don't have to believe that, but it did happen.
Elon aside (cause the guy is clearly not all there at the moment), space-x is still doing amazing things. As far as I'm concerned this is the most positive thing happening on the planet at the moment. I expect reusable rockets are going to bring more benefit to human society over the next few centuries than fusion power, quantum computing, AI, or any other "future technology".
Edit: I take it back, if we can ever achieve efficient and economical production of long carbon nanotubes / graphene, that would probably be a bigger deal. Also metallic hydrogen, or room temp superconductors, that would also be pretty huge. But reusable rockets are still vitally important.
They guy that owns to most impressive groundbreaking rocket company talks about rockets and space has no place in a community about space.
Okay cool.
There's a huge difference being the money being a very inventive space company and presenting yourself like you actually have any clue at all about space - which Melon Husk clearly has not, and if he had more of a hand in SpaceX they'd be probably bir nearly as far as they are now.
He's got a degree in physics and whenever you see him answer off the cuff questions about spacex he obviously has knowledge.
I think you're largely talking out of arse because you don't like Musk.
A BA in physics does not a rocket scientist make.
Wharton is great for a business degree - but otherwise its focus is in “‘Executive Education’ - which involved custom learning experiences that lead to academic enrichment, however with no standing.“ (emphasis mine)
If you look at a list of its allumni, you’ll quickly see it’s a rich persons club. Mostly CEOs, not discoverers or scientists.
Go find me videos of him have no knowledge of spacex then.
Whenever he seems to talk about spacex he knows more about the nuts and bolts of the company than most CEOs
Works both ways - go find me videos of him making operational (not managerial) decisions inside SpaceX. As founder he can point the way, but he’s not doing any science himself.
When you show us him plotting trajectories or doing mass calcuations, then we’re finally talking about the same thing. Right now, he writes checks and points; a rich Schnauzer could do the same.
Let's be clear what we are discussing here
presenting yourself like you actually have any clue at all about space - which Melon Husk clearly has not
That's what we are talking. He's obviously not the one the being calculations that would be stupid. No one is claiming he does that.
I can't believe you actually saying you think he should be doing calculations a computer does. I guess you don't understand business at all.
Go watch some of his chats with the everday astronaut. He clearly knows a lot about the company.
Let’s be REALLY clear here:

Define “clue”.
Is it an awareness of space? I think we all have that, Musk included. I’ve had college-level physics classes as well, but I’d never suggest I’m a scientist.
Is it a facility to manage the creation of a space program, do the technical analysis and direct its operations towards success? Of course he can’t do all that - he writes checks to those that can. He points, and like the poodle he is, expects others to do the dirty work so he can take the credit. SpaceX isolates him from those decisions.
Serious bub - waving the Elon flag in this day and age; it’s not a good look. Sycophants are a dime a dozen these days, and you don’t want to join that club.
Omg your lack of awareness is amazing. That's not even my quote.
Look I get it you irrationally hate Musk to the point that you see him as a caricature that can do no good whatsoever. He's a stupid Disney villain to you I get that.
I also understand that you are just fighting against your own ignorance here and trying to "win" for whatever reason, and your points are doing more convoluted and irrational I guess just to prove to yourself Musk really is as stupid and and evil as you make him out to be.
The man is CEO of the most impressive rocket company in the world. I have provided video links of him showing knowledge of his company, he obviously spends a lot of time with the company directly. Seeing as this is about space, by the most impressive rocket company, from the knowledgeable CEO. That's relevant for people that care about space.
If you want to circlejerk your Musk hatred and live in fantasy land go ahead. But here in the real world what Musk says about space absolutely has an impact on at least the short term future of space travel.
You mistake my rationality of being able to see Musk has some influence on space (which he absolutely does) as love for him. Your hatred is muddying your vision.
Let me leave you with this rhetorical question. Do you think your fantasy land you live in where you just look to prove your flat earth reality is good for you?
Go home, Elon. Your ketamine is wearing off.
(Hyuk, hyuk…”flat earth”. Some people will throw whatever they think works when they’re emotional…)
Letting space guy talk about space seems very reasonable at first glance, but the problem is that he's a tremendous idiot.
I own a car. Doesn't mean I know fuck all about making one, or doing anything of value toward humanity with it.
Elon owning toys you like doesn't make him anything but a guy who owns shit for a living.
