This is the best summary I could come up with:

The United States on Thursday effectively stopped the United Nations from recognizing a Palestinian state by casting a veto in the Security Council to deny the Palestinian Authority full membership of the world body.

The U.S. said an independent Palestinian state should be established through direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority and not through U.N. action.

It vetoed a draft resolution that recommended to the 193-member U.N. General Assembly that "the State of Palestine be admitted to membership of the United Nations."

Britain and Switzerland abstained, while the remaining 12 council members voted yes.

The Palestinian push for full U.N. membership comes six months into a war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, and as Israel is expanding settlements in the occupied West Bank.

More to come

The original article contains 114 words, the summary contains 115 words. Saved -1%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

Honestly, if it were up to me, the bot wouldn't be here. The summaries leave out important information all the time. But no one has asked for my input on it, so I guess the bot stays.

I agree with you. The bot too many times loses too much context and you have to read the whole thing to make sure it’s correct. In other words, it generates Fake News. :(

The good thing about the not is that I at least could read some version of the article, because when you click on the link you only get a error.

But otherwise I agree with you.

Odd. The article loads for me and I'm not in Canada.

But yeah it might be some kind of geo thing, I'm in South Korea.

You would think it just wouldn't post if it sees it is saving negative words, lol.
